I bought it for my car show car issues on moto trend which just wrapped this was the last episode and is the absolute worst running driving example of a bmw m3 in existence. It's very very rusty, not quite as bad as the baja, but pretty damn close, and even though i paid three thousand dollars for it. I knew i wasn't going to lose because the parts on this thing.

Well, it's so valuable, but it turns out somebody wanted it and that person is somebody who hates bmws and that's the car wizard. I don't know what he plans to do with it, but he's forgiven a bill about the size of what i paid for this car. For whatever purpose for the man that hates bmws, so we're going to take this thing up to the car wizards for its last ride. This thing is definitely on its last leg, not just rust, wise but mechanically, it's a total mess and then we're going to check on the projects up there.

I've actually driven one home in anticipation for the weather, so one's done already, but also there's some good news and some bad news. Well, you told me that there's a good news and bad news in the shop uh there's a car, that's conspicuously gone! It's a giant winged thing that i took home yesterday, but uh what has developed since i was here. The 355 is actually the engine's up and running and done. I saw that it was in so it's running. Yes, you can start it for us danielson.

Yes, sir danielson's working on a viper, yes viper man, what's going on here, head gaskets, oh i've been there before. Yes, i actually did that. I took it off yeah you did. I did they can actually go through your videos and find that video.

I suppose. Yes, a little bit of masculinity that was left in me. Okay, so there's no wheels on this thing because they're still getting refinished battery tender's on, but the engine's in with new belts. Look at those valve covers wow all new coolant, hoses yeah daniel redid does a very good job.

You guys are ready, no more misfire, no more like exhaust leak or rattle or whatever it was. That's smooth, very smooth. That's the way - and i see the tops down so do we fix it or we convert it. We converted it no reason to have that power.

Stop working still very nice, okay, i'll i'll, shut her down so that worked out well worked out very well, and you remember on your first 355. It had the fire - yes because it did not have this correct. That is the updated fuel line assembly. So i don't have to worry about that ever again.

Yeah one thing to think about this has open headers on it. Now there's no heat shields and it gets pretty hot in there. I would recommend some blankets that actually fit over really yeah the engine bay temperature is down to a minimum so like the stock headers, which they were prone to cracking, would have had heat shields on them. Yes, and these don't and they're awfully close to a lot of things like well: here's an oil reservoir, so that would heat up the oil conceivably right yeah.

These were ceramic coated, but some of you could see the coating is coming off and just over headers a heat blanket would take care of a lot of that. Yeah well cover up the ugliness as well and man. Those valve covers look so nice, the cinquake balboa. Five valves per cylinder - yes, i kind of want to make this silver and pretty again it's.

We can do that so nice turning out very well. It is all right! Well, hopefully, i get the wheels back here within a week or so and then i'm driving it. Yes, you will be so i drove up the mustang and i took home the big wings super bird and next week it's getting a tune, and hopefully that takes care of the overheating issue. But you know really it wasn't overheating.

It was just running hot right and if i backed off a little bit on the highway, then it would kind of creep down a little bit. So that goes to our theory of what you said with the tune so fingers crossed there. It wasn't really overheating sitting at the light, though so that was nice, that's good, but uh. I brought this up because well it's patiently waiting his turn.

The super bird was kind of a mess, so this thing kind of sat and waited, and now we're going to do a lot of things things to make this more drivable like well, a speedometer would be nice and a key. So i could park this thing and not have to worry about someone driving off and some other things, but the previous owner actually had got. The party started included this gt350r gauge pod, okay, which is great. That's a metal bezel there yeah, it also looks like it has some wiring for turn signals.

So we can have turn signals. That'd, be nice, no hand, signals, and it also included a a replica, very very nice tachometer, which i'll keep that racing tachometer there on the dash, but just to fill the holes. Okay and then there's a speedo that cool shelby logo two miles on it already. So a little more functionality i haven't found the lexan windows, yet i don't think i'm gon na get in a hurry to get those to be honest, as i'm never gon na drive this in bad weather or the rain, but maybe if they pop up i'll, do It, but just just a few things, so i can actually use this car like take it to dinner and park it, but mostly it's going to be a race car.

That's what it was. It really is. The sole of this car is racing. Yes, that's what it was nearly his entire life after two years as a rental, so we'll continue with that tradition, but i imagine the bad news.

Isn't with this thing? No there's! No bad news here. If i were to hazard a guess, it would be that lovely turd over there. Yes, there is bad news with that. One, oh boy, so this isn't.

My audi r8 is my wife's audi r8. The best christmas present ever the gift that keeps on giving. Oh, it does it's supposed to show up running and well it it doesn't run and there's some wiring issues. It's receiving no signal from the crank sensor and that's kind of where we left off.

You ordered a crank sensor, hoping that was it and no bueno. No bueno, we put a new crank sensor in and it actually was worse. It's kind of strange, but one thing we keep running across is like packed wiring like this stuff here yeah and then magic mike's actually been working on this, and he did some research on these ecms. There's two of them right.

There's something wrong with these ecms and i can tell that they've been out somebody's modified them or okay. It says pasayero, yes, well if they had them out once before and then put them back in, so they were labeling them and one's shiny and new kind of newer and this one's corroded. I don't exactly know what's going on here, but magic mike was able to confirm there's something wrong with these ecms. I see okay, well, the wiring certainly doesn't inspire confidence either, which now we've discovered why this car was dumped right.

This is why it was dumped because of as a hero, and i know that these are very expensive, something like two thousand dollars and they require programming. So you're out. Aren't you i'm out. I cannot program these.

That leaves me with the dealer, so i guess i'm gon na have to get real cozy with the audi dealer and uh hope they give me a break. But i know that's like two thousand dollars per computer, which hopefully, when they see this thing and they see the wiring that they even want to work on it. I mean fingers crossed that's an issue to deal with um, but my wife's christmas present may get punted yeah, we'll see i mean if it is a two thousand dollar engine computer, one of them. That's not the end of the world if the engine's fine, but anyway these cars they're just getting so ridiculous.

I mean this thing's almost 15 years old and it's so stupidly complicated that nowadays, when we're looking at like 20 21 audi artists, when they're 15 years old and they're 10 times more complicated than this we're just smoked yeah, we are you'll, be retiring right. I will be 10 15 years. I'm done well, don't retire. Just yet, please! I won't please there's there's lots of things for you to fix.

I know another car. That's not sticking around much longer is the 911 sc it's going to go to leonard's to get the engine put in he's going to do the compound carburetors, but one thing these things have gone up in value so much in the last few years that this one May be worth putting back as a target because it started life as a targa. You can get the roof. You know the roll bar weld it all back on.

There's plenty of wrecked cars, the glass we could make it a target again and that would probably help me a lot in getting well some money back whenever i decide to sell this thing something think about, but i guess is there something i can drive home there Is there's a jeep wagoneer? The coilovers 700 for the two coilovers wow 360 of labor, okay, thermostat, diagnosing the overheating and that's quite reasonable. I mean nothing, oh well, it added up nothing extreme, but it added up to 3262. and i still have a ways to go and thank you for sending that upgraded vacuum pump as well. That saved me a bunch of money but uh 3200 well actually, 35 with taxes yep 35.39.
