That’s because EV’s don’t create energy like an international combustion engine. EV’s only store specific amounts , so any variation in energy needs , such as terrain/ towing or temperature are going to significantly effect the range of your battery. This is why EV’s have / Do /& Will always suck
I am not on board with EV's. I know that for some people they're just fine and fit their lifestyle. I'm especially against the government mandating EV usage. This climate change garbage is out of control, and practically a religion for some individuals in government as well as some of the public. The notion that EV'S are going to "save the planet" is absurd. Tyler just demonstrated how terribly inefficient they are. I'm not even going to get into all the rare earth metals needed for the batteries and where those metals come from. The inefficiency starts with having to first generate the electricity to charge the dumb things. That means using coal, gas, oil, or nuclear energy. Our power grids are marginally able to supply enough power to run everything as is, and still we have to put up with threats of rolling blackouts. The only way I would own an EV is if I were towing a gas powered generator on a trailer. I'm sticking with gasoline or diesel. We can use our own resources for energy, and we can do it while being good stewards of the environment. We were energy independent a very short time ago. We can be again. Every one of us is feeling the squeeze of skyrocketing prices. It's time to get some serious people in office and get this country back on track, before we start looking like a third world country.
Sounds like they simply need a 2 speed rear end or something to help with gearing down for towing. There's more than enough torque for towing, but 1 gear just seems ridiculous, even if it's normal for EVs. When it comes to towing any kind of weight, 1 gear doesn't make sense.
I wish people would stop buying these EVs & trying to shove them down our throats to how good they are!
Keep your ICE car,look after it & it will last years.

I really think EV's are an interim solution. A bit like compact fluorescent light globes were before LED's came along. They're o/k for small vehicle driven around town but no good for long distances like we have in Aus. Certainly no good for towing. Maybe hydrogen is the solution? Who knows.

Just my opinion as a mechanic, but EVs are stupid.. right now. We just are not there with the tech or infrastructures needed to supply the appropriate power. I don't like this because it's a forced change by the govt and not a natural one created by the markets. Whenever that happens we get shit.
