yeah you might have an oil leak. What? The oil pan? What! Welcome to these garage is the dumbest Automotive channel in all of YouTube And this is my all new 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 then 221 So the 221st Z06 ever made in the mid engine Corvette platform probably the very first one in the state and I was very lucky to get it. If you didn't see my last video, be sure to check it out. Uh but amazing Specs: 670 horsepower on the flat plane crank V8 0-60 somewhere around two and a half seconds.

the performance unbelievable. but other than seeing the very pretty outside I can't see underneath the wrapper especially with the convertibles because you have this cover here that comes up and there is another cover. Apparently the engine Builder's name is signed under there sort of like what AMG used to do and I would love to see it. So we're going to head up to the car Wizards today to do just that to take off all the panels we can and look at the Marvel of engineering that this car is.

In addition, we're going to compare it to a 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider that's been sitting in the hoopty hanger for years. It hasn't been started because it was in a limp mode and then the trickle charger got knocked off and then it wouldn't start. The battery was kind of hard to change in a foot well so it sat Hadn't been started in almost two years, but it is now up at the Car Wizard getting assessed. I Did shoot some footage of getting it started and getting it up there.

We'll look at that first and then we'll be up at the car. Wizards with the Z06 and comparing us with that car. So let's get started. You guys are making house calls.

Yeah. I Got a battery here for it. so we'll get that replaced and hopefully I can clear the fault codes and we'll be able to drive it up there. That's the original battery.

Oh my goodness. Yep. Factory battery on a 2012 on a 2012. Genuine Ferrari Old battery out old batteries out new battery is in Okay, we're taking a look to make sure there's no fault codes.

Sounds like a C8 Z06 That's exactly right. Gotta love the flat plane cranks. Well, that's good news. We'll get after the Wizards and look at it more closely.

So what do you think of the Spec Wizard Hypersonic Gray, two-tone red interior the the sorry you caught me in a moment there. Um yeah, it's a nice car. Yeah, it really is. I Didn't realize it was that nice.

but yeah, you like the spec. It's very beautiful, you know I always have silver or white cars and it's it. Looks over from a distance but you get up close it's got different colors going on. Yeah, a little bit of green, a little bit of bronze.

uh. but there is one thing that I really don't like about the convertibles. Let me show you popping the access hatch for you. Well actually the access hatch is there.

The engine is hiding. completely hiding. It's like a Boxster it's very much like a Boxster They give you little peepholes like you're a a pervert or something, but you can't see the whole engine. the Magnificent flat plane crank 5.5 liter, 670 horsepower.

You can't see it? What the heck? Yes. I Want to see it? You have to be a voyeurist to enjoy this engine. Yes, but I guess there's a few little torques here to take off to where we can actually see. This Magnificent motor.

It's not going to avoid your warranty I Don't think so. Okay, well we can take it off I Definitely want to see it too. That's really crazy. It's so beautiful it's like taking.

Mona Lisa putting a blanket over it. Like why? I Agree they could make this clear. Somebody make an aftermarket clear one for the convertibles. That'd be great.

Yes, please do that man. Don't get your fingers or anything other kind of extremities caught in those gears. That is a very American way to do a top Isn't it? Yeah, it definitely. It's a big Cog gear stick.

Yeah, no little electronic Motors or fancy Hydraulics Really just big old gears. There's a big American Way some cables. yeah Magic Mike you rescued the Ferrari I did well while he's doing that. let's go talk about the Ferrari huh? All right.
So it drove up here. obviously a battery got it running. it was in limp mode. What's wrong with it? Well, Magic Mike and Daniel's son went and checked it out and they thought maybe there's some major issues going on with it, but they've changed out the battery and that's it.

It's totally happy now. It drives perfect. So all the issues this car was having, the reason why it sat for years was due to low voltage. Yes, the battery was bad.

Okay, well that's pretty sad and stupid. but I am glad it's up here because now we can compare it to the C8 Z06 because supposedly this is what they reverse engineered. So Magic Mike we ready. This thing is so sweet Danielson it's like a real Ferrari but half the price.

No yeah, it sounds just like one. It does sound just like one. All right. Are you ready for the big reveal? Let's take a look.

I know your Ferrari Man there she is. The intakes even looks like the 458. Yes, it doesn't have the crinkle paint. it does not.

It's just plastic. but then they're plastic. Beautiful intakes though. Wow.

it's not built by someone named Mario or Francisco or something. It's Mike Ward built it. Good job Mike yeah. but then they did make the valve covers red, which it looks kind of like the same red on a 60s Corvette That's pretty neat.

You know you'd never ever see it. They made it red. It isn't the most elegant presentation though, that's for sure. No, it's not as elegant as a Ferrari but it's almost as good as one.

Huh? Almost almost. It's a big cooling expansion tank, huh? There's the Magna ride right there. the wires that go to it. Yeah.

I have a Corvette too you? Oh, that's your your XLR Yeah, Yes. Well, it has the the North Star the Death Star in it. So so it's like GM's development and their best. Their bet? Well, the jury's still out.

We're very early into this engine, so yeah, uh, who knows. but uh, sounds wonderful. The performance? Amazing. The exhaust.

Where's the exhaust going? Does it go up? It goes up into a catalytic converter? Yeah. interesting. And then there's the air intakes there, right? Yeah, that doesn't look fun to do an air filter on. I Guess the air is coming in from the gills.

back around, it's a long way for it to go. Yes, well. the Ferrari spiders. You can pop the hatch and see the back of the engine.

It does look pretty good. obviously the coops you can see a lot more. but I really wish I could see this every time I pop this service position. but I get it, You don't want to melt the top.

Yeah, it is definitely a pretty engine. It really is. It sounds amazing. It's really cool.

Look at that. it's got is that three throttle bodies? Yeah, that's weird. Yeah, so it doesn't look very similar from the top other than being Mid Engine with a Ferrari but I'm curious underneath if it looks similar. see if they have a similar layout similar design principles.
Maybe Well that Ferrari doesn't have an axle look to make it easier to get on the lift. but this one it sure does well. Now it's an off-road Corvette They're doing it with Lamborghinis and Porsches to car or whatever. We're doing it with the 911.

yes we are, but we're not doing it with this one. Why not? No tear this up? Are lift points easy? Mike Lift points appear to be accessible. They've got them cut out for me, which is very nice. Oh here we go. So far so good. There have been a lot of Corvettes that have fallen off lifts but that's because their engines out, you know. And in the back they have the transmission.

at least the older ones. Yeah this one's everything's in the back but but we always like to test it first. Looks good. Yeah definitely a little rear heavy but it looks stable up.

We go well. I Can already see it has a lot in common with Ferrari with the uh under body panels. it's it's a lot. Valve exhaust as well.

Yeah, it's oh. it's really cool actually. it's electronic. Yeah, there's the actuators when you put it in.

Loud motor. Yeah. neat. So what's that thing that's a transact? so it says trim.

It does say Tremec on it. Yep, that's the tail into that. It's very much like a Ferrari too. Very much so suspension wise.

Here's your parking brake which is separate from your main caliper up here. Somebody put their signature on it. that's a beefy shaft. There it is.

You said it was. How much horsepower? 670. 600? Yeah, it needs it with that kind of power. Wow.

But once again, Hit looks a lot like a Ferrari doesn't it? Except it says GM Yes, yes it does well. I Know these panels will be hard to take off, but I don't think anybody's ever done it before I Don't think anyone's ever seen this on YouTube before. Do you want to be the first? Always like to be the first? Well, Wizard's getting better and better at delegating things. Yes, and it's getting cold outside.

So yes, yes, movement's getting tough. but I guess while the panels are getting dropped, let's go see the Ferrari just for reference. Huh? I'm noticing one thing right away. the ceramic breaks in this.

Ferrari They do look bigger than the Corvette like another engine. Yeah, calipers definitely beefier as well. Yeah. One last tip on the exhaust though.

Yeah, and one's smaller in the middle. Yeah, hmm. I bet they wish they had four tips. Oh yeah, four tips is always better.

but then we were just looking at the rear suspension. so let's go there. it. Uh, it does look really similar, doesn't it? It really does.
It seems a lot more. Compact and smaller. As far as tight, everything's tight. There's not so much open air in here.

Yeah, there's a beefy shaft. yeah, not quite as beefy though. sealed up just like the other one. Yeah, this car only has a few thousand miles on it.

Just basically brand new in the wrapper. Way nicer than the 458. I Sold. Oh yeah, yeah, way way sold that to Uh Dan Normal guy.

super car. He's made a few videos on it and he normally owns nice cars like this, but he was kind of curious what one with a bunch of miles would be like and make videos. So more power to him. All right.

So the front suspension on this bad boy? once again. more room for activities? huh? Way more room. There's more suspension travel here. I Think this is so much larger.

There's so much open space. Yeah, the shock sitting at more of an angle too. Yeah. seeming to, you know when you dive into a turn looks much more like a race car angle.

It definitely does not look like a Grandpa's Corvette though. No, no it does not. it's definitely I think I think it's a genuine exotic car made in America Well, it has the prize 150 crayons? Yeah! I Never imagined paying that much for a Corvette ever when I worked at the dealership 15 years ago because the 06 was 60 70 grand. Yeah, so they've doubled.

Everything's doubled I suppose just in the last couple of years. but the massage parlors have doubled. Well, just a few weeks ago, this car was put together with an engine that was built by a man named Mike and now a man named Mike is taking it apart for YouTube just the underbody panels. We're not taking the entire engine apart.

The best things in life come from a person named Mike Oh oh our first. View that's even like a Ferrari the frame horns. Yep, and now we are closer to that flat plane crank. It's an aluminum pulley.

They fixed the Corvette pulley problem. Finally. Oh really? yes. where they would fall out? Yeah, very nice.

All right. Well, there's more to see. one more panel. but uh.

that unless you comes out a lot faster around the 458. Just saying. Well, you've probably done it a hundred times. This is the first time ever anybody's done it, but they did.

Loctite The bolts didn't they? Yeah. so they did not want us taking this off. Not anytime soon. Okay, because there's a little hook there.

It is only on movies. Garage First first few over the bottom of this motor. it's got an oil leak. Yeah what? There's oil in the pan? What? Seriously? Come on.

Mike No way The Ferraris don't do that. They actually do. This Might be just like a Ferrari Okay, it's coming from this oil filter. Okay, so they were just a little sloppy.

put in the cap of the oil filter on. it's fine, right? Yeah? I think it's fine. Okay. Chimney: There was Stroud vans that had a transmission leak that's still undetermined.
but uh yeah, this one looks nice and tidy. It's a big cooler here. Oil cooler. That's what this whole thing is.

So it's not the oil pan. it's underneath the oil pan. Yeah, yeah, it's definitely something there. It's got coolant hoses that go into it right here.

huh? Got an oil cooler there on the bottom, but it's not a very deep oil pan. No It's it's dry. Some like a Ferrari Yeah, it probably has a reservoir somewhere, probably in the back. So how many hours does this look like when the oil pan leaks? Probably this whole subframe would have to come off.

Oh, so it's like a North star. Yeah, maybe they haven't gotten better over the years. Basically a Ferrari under here. Yes, the oil filters on the bottom on a Ferrari it's up top.

Yeah, well. I suppose if you booger this all up, you could get a rear subframe section pretty easily. mm-hmm bolted in. these things were built to crash somewhat and then look, whoa, look at that hole there wizard.

No in here. Oh my goodness, they are lucky. Channel They are thinking to the Future there all-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, maybe electricity, a hybrid I Think you're right. Knock the hyper car Holy Trinity down a peg with that future crevasse there.

Yeah, they've got block off plates on the front wheels. like there's supposed to be an axle that can run through there. Ooh, but there are some lines. Yeah, there's some heater core and air conditioning and whatnot.

Hmm. Well, obviously a well-built car, it is. It's well built. It wasn't like popping the hood of that Ford Bronco and going oh my.

God I Mean just just a total bowl of spaghetti when it came to coolant lines and wirings and things. But definitely not as serviceable as, say, a previous generation. Corvette No, it's not That's a lot like. uh North storage when it comes to oil leaks where it's a drop out and fix things on a lot.

So very Ferrari-like I Suppose in that sense, an oil change like this one is going to really require a lift. Someone's not going to be able to get on the ground and take all this stuff apart. Yeah, and clearly Corvette they still have some more trick up their sleeves here. This is the latest and greatest for now.

but uh, clearly the platform is built to do much, much more It is. There's something secret that we don't know about, which will then make this a lesser model and then it'll start depreciating. No, you won't. Thank you for watching.

    Such an interesting video that is spoilt by poor audio and video techniques. For a channel of your size, your audio could be better. Spend the money and remote mic everyone. The excessive panning just gives me motion sickness even on a small screen.

    the vette has major valvetrain issues
    blows trannies @400miles and
    has terrible ergonomics

    Hey guys hate to break it to you but Rick Corvette Conti did a break down of the Corvette underside a long time ago and they pointed out there was a lot of space for a battery there. Paragon Performance have a clear engine cover accessory so you can see everything nicely😊
