Welcome to Hoopies Garage! The dumbest Automotive channel in all of YouTube and it's feeling a little bit like a Ford Purge because yes, we did get rid of our electric Ford Lightning pickup truck Rob was pretty tired of dealing with the small battery in the small range that was getting worse as it got colder outside. So we have sold that and I am considering selling a few more Fords including this 2021 Shelby GT500 Do I get out of this thing while the getting is good I've owned it for a year I have enjoyed it but I'm sure at some point this thing is going to start depreciating just like every other new Mustang ever on the planet. But right now I can still sell it for a little bit more than I can pay for it. But we're also going to check out some other Fords including the one that was up in the middle upper spot of my lift for a year.
basically my 1966 Shelby GT350 that was a Hertz Rent eraser. The thing was a full out race car modified into that. It is pretty crazy and hardcore and well I haven't taken it on the track once. it's mostly sat up on the storage lift for the better part of the year and got mad about it and started piddling various fluids that leaked down onto the Jean-Claude Van Damme Azure was Dripping on the hood so I had to take it down then have it towed to the car.
Wizards My dream with buying that car was to become a vintage racing driver and attend some events and start doing that. And while it hasn't started yet, it's been too busy of a year. but I'm wondering if I should throttle it back a little bit and make it a bit more drivable on the street so I can actually enjoy it. There's a number of things that I could do to help that but not ruin the car entirely to where it couldn't race.
In addition, the OJ Bronco has arrived from California my 1994 Ford Bronco that I picked up. it was an OJ tour car. It wasn't the actual OJ Bronco vehicle which I took around California and it did really well, but it did have some issues. the suspension felt very loose and noisy and some other things.
so the Car Wizard is looking that over. so I don't need to make a decision right away on this Mustang. There's some thinking to do while we Tour all the hoopties Let's Roll Ford to check on the Fords at the Car Wizard. I'd like to thank Rich for sponsoring today's video and while I won't be talking about their wallets today, they have sent me an all new product right here.
All right! Door number one here is oh yeah, the blingy gold one which looks absolutely fantastic. They all come with a matching silicone ring for those Rough and Tumble days. The ring comes in a variety of Premium materials including carbon fiber, tungsten carbide, 24 karat gold, and titanium. All the Rings have a beveled Edge for on hand comfort and an inner convex shape for a comfortable no pinch fit.
the matte Gray which has a little extra something to it kind of like the silver on this BMW So I think that will be the one that I wear today. So if you need a ring that can keep up from cooking, to hunting, to working out the Ridge Bevel I didn't think of what finger I put this on to show you. uh, but the the Ridge beveled ring gives you a solution for every occasion. Ridge also offers a novel lost and Foundry sizing Protection Service to not only make this a better ring, but a better way to own Rings Whether you lose your ring or lose 20 pounds each purchase comes with the option of two future exchanges for the same ring in a same or different size. So there are a lot of reasons to try out the new Ridge ring for yourself or make it a gift for someone else. But also, you can get the best offer by going to Ridge.com right now and you can save up to 40 percent through December 22nd. So don't wait, go to Ridge.com movies and get yourself a ring bling there. All right.
Well see work in progress here. Hello Magic Mike Hello Wizard! hello. Kind of having trouble getting this thing to fit on the lift? Really? Yeah. I'm thinking like if the lift doesn't fit we must have quit.
Oh no. Oh the OJ jokes are already starting well. I mean everybody that's seen this car even in Kansas Now they go nuts. They love this car even though it's as Infamous as it is inside the sheet metal.
yeah and then the radius arm mount in the front and there is a lot of cake here at Omega Auto Clinic But anyway, um, somebody's birthday. Yeah, Okay, so um yeah. this Bronco it made the trip just fine in California but it definitely has a very vague suspension and I know these things don't handle like sports cars from the factory, but uh, definitely something loose there at high speeds. When it was warm outside, it would ping a little bit like it may need a tune-up I don't know and I'm sure it's leaking a few things and I see Dennis delivered the Mustang Yes, it has been waiting for you.
Okay, well I need to figure out what I'm gonna do with that. but I guess first the Bronco yes this is for a plow or RV Towing I'm not sure what do you think the hitches are? are those gloves that do not fit? Yeah I was going to do the inspection I can't get this thing on. Okay, all right. well you know you're a better actor than OJ Oh am I Yes okay yes we just watched The Naked Gun Recently it was he was pretty bad.
Was he the last one had Anna Nicole Smith in it and Hammond Anyway, back to the Bronco Uh, pretty cool rigs. Yeah about this. Yeah, is it a plow? Is it for a camper? Towing I Think this would be for camper Towing You just slide in, put the hitch pins in and pull it behind your camper. Okay, well I don't know if they have much snow plows in California I Sure, would not want to have it anymore so that can definitely come off.
Okay, it just bolts off. Yeah, yeah for sure. But uh, these suspensions on these Broncos are pretty darn cool. What would you call this? It's the independent front suspension, but it has a swivel axle right here. Yeah, but it's still pivoting. so you have basically all the beef of a solid axle. but it's a it pivots, you know, right? And what can cause loose steering is these radius arms and the radius bushings here. Okay, which they look like they've been replaced so that may not be it.
but that can cause the wheels to move a lot. All right. Well let's start the jiggle. See what happens? There's a sway bar.
Sway bar is gone. well that'd explain it. That would have gone here. Interesting.
Let me take the sway bar off. Hmm. I'm not really seeing anything loose other than the sway bar is missing I Guess that would make sense because me up on the highway and it's wandering around. It seems a little Maybe may feel soft and wandering.
Yeah, yeah, that would probably be what that is. So somebody would have disconnected the sway bars for off-roading prowess, but then they'd sacrifice their Highway stability. which is what I'm feeling. So maybe we need to find some sway bars.
huh? Yeah, Find some OEM sway bar and the links and everything and hook it back up. Okay, but underneath I mean this is a lifelong California truck and man does it show. Oh what do you got there looks like a oil leak of some sort. Looks like the oil pan.
Yeah. Interesting. Okay, well. not too bad to do.
It's kind of a strange oil pan though with this dip here. Yeah, it is very strange. These also have to come off. We'll have to raise the engine a little bit and pull it out.
Okay, it's not too big of a deal. Your joints are good. It's kind of weird how they've got these just tied to the spring. A brake pad sensor? huh? Well, I don't have any warning lights for that.
No, that's not a brake pad sensor. that is the wheel speed sensor. Okay, let's tie it to the spring. Weird.
I Guess it works, but amazing. The factory stickers there still definitely is a California It's just ridiculous. All this oil that's everywhere is coming from your oil pan. Yeah, the transmission.
it shifts a little hard into reverse, but that's a very Ford thing to do. you know old? Ford I Mean it's all really solid and nice. Do not Service: Okay, Do the brakes work okay for you? Yeah, the brakes feel fine. Yeah, they've had it apart before You can see the silicone they used to smash it back on.
Okay, they probably just serviced it. Yeah, good tires. Shocks look good. Yeah, just a clean simple.
California truck. Well I mean we've got what the oil pan gasket to do and that's about it. oil pan, gasket. and find me some sway bars.
Oh and the sway bar? Yes, yeah. put that on. well. really nice truck.
yeah with a little bit of clean of a van. Gogh this thing's going to be mint. So very very yes it's acquitted. Yes, yes uh, no big wizard bills here.
Uh but I do need your help on what I should do with this mustang. So let's go over here. So as you know, this car was a Hertz Rent eraser and then a race car. Basically sat for several years and then somebody built it into a group B legal race car. So this is full out race car with 110. Octane When you got it, it had no key. there was I mean basically no gauges in it. We added a lot of things to make it more streetable, but it's still full out.
Crazy race car. and I haven't raced it once I haven't been to the track with it once I've had it for a year. You put in the fancy Shelby speedometer and it has 47 miles on it. That's it.
40 in seven eight months, 47 miles. So the biggest issue? Well right now it's leaking from the transmission I think it has a big big leak so we need to look at that. But the other issue is the clutch. So ridiculously hard.
It's a race clutch which I get. but I've never driven a race car with a clutch this hard before I mean it is insane and say like a racing situation where there's like a panic like oh my God I need to do something quick downshift I would sort of struggle with this clutch is that stiff. so researching one that's a little more reasonable. But since these things are so valuable now at least at the moment, do I put this back mostly stock.
You know, because now, like if it was an original, completely restored Hertz car they're worth over two hundred thousand dollars. Which two hundred thousand dollars? Yeah. I Guess you just have to see the things that you want to do. Is it going to cause that big of a hit? And how much of a hit are you willing to take? Yeah, But then if I do that, then I'm basically giving up on my racing dreams because I've always wanted to take this car on the track.
do the group B racing do look going to say could do Sonoma and all that stuff but uh, you're proven that that's not happening. Life is a little busy with a two-year-old toddler and YouTube and TV shows and all that stuff. So and Barrett Jackson yeah yeah, so that all sort of gets in the way where I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon, but I wanted to anyway. Well I think do you want to put it up on the lift here? Yeah, we'll see where I guess we can drive it up on that one over there since the Broncos tied up.
Oh God yep that is just so awesome sounding. Oh it doesn't like the cold Shelby attack racing tack. but then this clutch. holy moly it's a it's an on off foot.
oh you got carried some speed but I have no steering. whoa and then the racing breaks. I'm gonna need both hands here. so I'm going to give you guys a quick break here and get it on the lift.
Oh my leg. This clutch. oh got your workout for the day? Yeah uh uh. okay.
yep. so yeah. big crazy race car I love that. but maybe we make a little more civilized.
Yep, definitely doesn't smell like a 70s normal artist. You can definitely smell it. Some special gas. the 110 Octane yes which I mean if I were to do that and put it on normal pump gas, tune it. off of this 110, it's it's very reversible. but then I could actually go to a normal gas station and fill up. But uh yeah I mean it wouldn't be that bad to do, but there's already. Oh, it's up here too.
Yeah, it sat up on the lift for six months and then tripped all over the Jean-Claude Azure Oh there it is there. so maybe it's wafted its way back from up here. I think it's coming from this oil filter adapter and dripping down and spraying everywhere. Okay, then we also need to look Transmissions dry in there I Don't think that's my gusher though because it would have enough.
It was enough to get down onto the lift and then drip onto the Jean-Claude Van Damme store. Was it on the hood on the hood? Yeah, so it'd be like up in this area. Yeah, this could be leaking as well on the washer drain plug. Yeah, we just need to clean it all off and then let it sit there and idle for a while.
and okay, but a lot of this is just blown off. onto there from driving. Yep, and then a clutch hiding in there. Yeah, it's got a serious clutch in there.
That's a where's the flywheel? It's like what is this? Well, this is the flyover. I Mean it doesn't have a pressure plate? Yeah, we'd have to change all that out. The clutch is only that big. Well, that would explain why it's like an on off switch.
Yeah And then one thing I forgot to mention from a year ago is that rattle is still there. Some kind of rattle on the floor on the back. this thing when you drive it. I think there's the exhaust banging.
Oh yeah, yeah, there it is. Yep, it's touching. Yep, so we did that in the inspection and then I forgot to tell you all to fix it. So okay.
Yep. all right. Well, we can fix it now. that's who.
Okay, well so I think I'm going to start with a clutch I'm thinking maybe we put some windows in it. okay and then I'll think about from there whether I have it tuned off a 110 Octane Really less of a race car and more of a street car or not. I'll make my decision there. but uh, there's another Shelby that I need to make a decision on as well.
Yep, it's been a year and it's about two. All right back in the GT500 that has all the luxury that my 66 does not and all the power 760 horsepower. Jeez! Lightning quick dual clutch shifts I mean this car is absolutely a Marvel basically the car of the year that I bought at 2021 even though I bought it totally by accident. if you think about it, In recent history, the cars have been really making headlines.
have all been American cars five years ago. What Dodge was doing with the Challenger with the Hellcat with the demon it was just unheard of. the acceleration speed with that. and then you had the C8 Corvette and this a mid-engine Corvette and a 760 horsepower Mustang that could actually handle on a track. For that five plus years ago, we were talking about Porsches that were setting records. AMG GTRs that kind of stuff before that, 10 years ago or so, the Hypercar Holy Trinity with the McLaren P1 the hybrid hyper cars of the new generation and then before that, well, you had like the Enzo Ferrari the SLR McLaren before this American brand in the last few years. it was all a punch of European exotic, high and stuff. not things that you can buy for well under a hundred thousand dollars.
A car that somebody in the middle class that's worked really hard their entire life and they want to treat themselves for retirement or something. This is something they could actually attain and buy, not some half million dollar crazy. It's cold outside hypercar and that is just absolutely awesome now. I Didn't intend to buy this car.
it just sort of fell into my lap after somebody bailed on this order for this car. and then a friend of mine Rob the one who I went half in on the lightning. Uh, he found out about this and bailed on it as well. So I ended up with it for a little less than its MSRP which this one was.
eighty. one thousand dollars and it was a screaming deal I knew I could own this car for a year and not lose money. Probably make a little money and that's where I sit right now. One year into this car 2100 miles I haven't been on the track once even though I could and I'm thinking do I sell it, do I sell it now before it starts depreciating because I'm sure in three to five years this thing will be worth about half of what the sticker was new.
If it's just like any other GT500 or special Mustang products, they'll get lower to a point and then they'll sort of stay there. and I could come back to it later at that point and buy back in. but do I want to I mean this thing is ready to go and doing anything at any moment for me. Which unlike a lot of the cars in the hoopty, Fleet I Can't say that they can also haul my entire family comfortably.
As far as other complaints though, I really don't have any and how could I it? It's absolutely insane. But unlike a Supercar like a McLaren like a Lamborghini or something like that, you feel really engaged and involved with this car. It has a soul. It doesn't feel like I'm driving a video game.
It's still a big car that handles really well, so it does require some thought to drive this thing. It is also very easy to turn the nannies off and get this thing to do stupid things. which I I'm going to turn it back on right now because I'm Vlogging and uh yeah, it's really, really fun now. I Don't mind losing ridiculous amounts of money on this channel I Mean that's how the whole Channel started It was me buying hoopties and spending way too much money trying to fix them off and failing.
But the difference is the car wizard gets Rich from that. Other people get that money I see where it goes. Depreciation is just a thing where it just sort of goes away. It's like I'm just lighting it on fire I'm not really contributing to the economy at all, at least here locally when it comes to things. So that's why a lot of my fleet is heavily depreciated or fully depreciated. Exotic cars that are on the rise that are a little more maintenance heavy, but maybe maybe they appreciate enough to cover the maintenance and repairs over the years. But honestly, there's another car that I stumbled into in a very similar situation to this that everybody wants they're not making very many of them, is basically the hottest car of what will be 2023 and my name's on it. so do I get rid of this for that because it's kind of in the same space.
The engine's in the back though and there's no back seat so that's the only hit. But anyway, thank you for watching.
lmao ….. good one , if the truck don't fit you must acquit and the glove was a bonus
It certainly doesnβt fit your brand mate. Great car but itβs no hooptie.
Iβll take it off your hands for $5
Change the clutch to a twin diskπ₯π―π€π€
Idk hoovie that gt500 is really nice I wouldnβt throw it away unless youβre gonna buy a c8 or a jailbreak
Zo6!
sell
Dump it. Its a Ford. Buy it back later at 1/2 the price. Ford always over price and them make a ton of them.
Are those ring things for that marriage thing that Americans/Christians believe in. Such a weird ritual. Keep up the good work mate from New Zealand
Hoovie's gettin' a C8!
All of these cars feel clunky and 30 years old in comparison to the new electric sportscars
i want that mustang my dream car i had a 2018 till it was stolen an insurance totaled it was a sad day for me
Dude transferred to a new location at my job. Been parking next to this MINT 1993ish to 1996ish Bronco. Its a light blue metallic/silver sides two tone combo, just a stunning looking truck. Been hoping to run into who owns that truck, cause it is just so freaking minty fresh. Yet they drive it to work, even when its pouring rain, the water just beads off it.
Track it or sell it to someone who will take it Goodwood
Donβt go down the wrong street for YouTube views ππππ
Good thing I advanced this video before I wasted 20 minutes of my life π₯±
