Welcome to hoovy's garage the dumbest automotive channel in all of youtube - and this is my 1989 lamborghini countach 25th anniversary edition and we're having our own little anniversary right now, one year since i purchased this thing on a whim, i had no idea i wasn't seeking out To buy a countach but an eccentric neurosurgeon, just a few miles away from me down on dirt road sold me this and a lamborghini diablo, so he could buy some more tanks for his museum. Both the cars had been sitting for a very long time and needed quite a bit of work, but this car well. It has been a joy to own truly a rewarding experience by every definition of the word, but it's uh decided to give me a little gift on its one year anniversary, and that is a big old puddle of something where it was parked. So it has broken on the one year anniversary and we are going to take it up to the car wizards today to see.

Well what has happened? Yes, there's the cute little puddle right there, the most recent one from the last few days since the last time. I moved it's smaller than my foot, but still that's definitely a leak, but i can't be that mad at the countach because it has been well almost totally reliable. No issue is left to be stranded or even close to leaving me stranded and all the issues for a car that had been driven 200 miles over the course of eight years. Wasn't that bad, as opposed to the diablo, which i bought at the same time from the same person? Well, that's been a massive massive waiting game and well issue after issue.

Nothing new has really popped up broken on this car, but as we sort through all the layers of issues with the diablo, and we order the next round of parts for it, it just never ever ends. You know four months for steering rack front shocks was another couple of months now the whole exhaust system is making a weird noise. So we're waiting on that, but we're getting very close. I'm not ready to give up on this car quite yet, and it is way way more comfortable than the countach, but it hasn't been as blessed of a year as it has with this 1989 countach, which is of course, an icon.

Obviously the original poster car so much so that i actually had the poster my dad had this in college. He hung it basically over my crib, so i've had it in my room, my entire life and a year ago i was finally able to buy one. This one is the most common, though it's in 1989 25th, which is the horatio pagani styled one, the most ridiculous. One with the side strikes to kind of look like a testerosa.

I guess interesting thing, though it's kind of a fly catcher where they fly into it and die. I don't know why it's doing that with this carpet. That's what it's doing, but a beautiful pearl white over red leather interior and i'm probably one of the few countach owners in existence right now that has put a thousand miles on their car in the last year. I bought it with 17 000.

I think 700 kilometers now it's at 19, 321 and well still running fantastic the issues. Well, there haven't been too many when we bought it. Of course, the tires were rock hard and old. That was a major expense.
There were a few leaks in the climate control and there were some electronics that weren't working, but that was an easy fix and then, after all that, unfortunately we had an issue with the original ignition box. The magnetic morelli system was acting up to where it was sputtering and almost stalling, but still made it up to the car wizards. We converted it to a modern, msd ignition system and really it hasn't given me a lick of trouble since i took it to california on the countach rally, which was incredible celebrating 50 years of the lamborghini countage all up and down highway 1 to monterey car week, Driving on laguna seca, seeing the all new countach, which you know, it's not the same, a really really fun experience made a lot of friends on that rally and lamborghini countach owners in general are a lot like me. Basically, people that saw the poster always wanted one and buying it is a dream fulfilled.

I never detected an ounce of snobbery or pretentiousness with any of the owners, and then we shipped it back to kansas and well. I have driven it some obviously, but not nearly as much as other cars have come in. But the thing that's hanging over my head in this last year are the prices for a car that i don't use all that much that i'm kind of scared to use because of this pearl white paint. I put one scratch on it.

There's no way you're going to match it. You're gon na have to repaint the whole car. I could sell this thing and pay off all of my car debt and a good chunk. The majority of my mortgage, one car, that i bought right here for well a very, very low price with another lamborghini that i could keep john tamarion have curated an outfit that specializes in these countages has checked in with me ever since i bought it, but also He's checked in a lot over the last year to see if i wanted to sell or how things were going mostly checking in to be nice, but he also believes these cars will be million dollar cars in the not so distant future.

So if i sell it now, i would be selling myself short, but at the same time as this car gets more and more expensive, the more scared i will be to drive it and i'd hate to have this thing sit and more issues to start popping up, Because the more you drive these cars well, the better they run and with that being said well, let's run this thing up to the car wizards, with the little drippy drip in the oil and actually before we go i'd like to mention the dumbest automotive channel. In all of youtube, has a new t-shirt out. It's inspired by these vintage lamborghini countach t-shirts that i have bought over the past year. My sister's, a graphic designer designed this really cool, countach, themed t-shirt that you can pre-order right now supplies will be limited.
We don't run these shirts forever, so get one. While you can also hooves garage stickers. Only five bucks get you a sticker to cover up all of your hoopty issues, and i would love to see where you put these stickers. So i'm going to give a little contest, buy a five dollar sticker, put it in a cool place, my favorite one that i see each week when you tweet me at hooves garage.

I will share at the end of the video so get your hoovey's garage sticker and your hoovies garage countage t-shirt while supplies last lambo yoga complete, i don't fit, but i don't care now once i'm in i'm, i mean i'm kind of locked in. I guess. Oh yeah, i love this thing. I love it.

It doesn't matter that it decided to sort of break on its one-year anniversary. Hopefully, the oil leak is minor, though we'll see what the car wizard has to say. Oh this car, oh wizard, i fall in love every time. I drive this car.

That's why it's so hard to get rid of, isn't it. It is very hard to get rid of, even though it's quite valuable but uh. It also wanted to come see you, oh how's, that it's left a little oil puddle about you know it it pooted. I had driven it for you know, 45 days or so, and it wanted to.

Let me know that hey drive me or i'll do stuff like this, so it has a little leak, but it's just one year anniversary, so we should give it a look over anyway for one year: okay, but wonderful car, it's been a great year. It has it's been a great year and it's amazing how well this runs. Wasn't you on a countach rally recently? Yes, yes, it did great on the countach rally yeah for two cars that have been sitting for a long time, completely different stories with the diablo versus the countach. I mean the diablo.

It's not really that car's fault it's just waiting on parts, which is something you're dealing with on everything now right right, which is kind of a story on some other cars around here. So before we go on the lift, let's uh, let's check on some things: huh. Okay, starting with well oh 3, 48. Is it? Is it it's good to go? It's ready to go.

Okay! That's actually a two year anniversary there on that car. So it's just an oil change. There was a leak that uh danielson was able to fix real, easily a coolant hose clamp. He went through.

Did all the clamps tighten them all up. That's ready to go so other than that clean bill of health yep. My last year before the engine comes out for the belt service which we're dealing with right now on another ferrari, but we'll get to there in a little bit uh waiting game. Still on the audi r8, we did find that the crank sensor itself was bad and i ordered another one and just like i mentioned on some of my videos just where, just because they say it's in stock, doesn't mean it actually is yeah.

So pretty much the same place where we were two weeks ago, because we're waiting on parts - and this is on you - know a pretty normal generic sensor for an audi volkswagen. It's it's a normal part that is taking weeks. Yes, unfortunately, there's a few blasts from the past in here. This is a e320 diesel huh.
Yes, it is from vermont. I had one this exact color really yeah. I would get 40 miles per gallon in it too. 40 yeah wow, it's just the last good mercedes diesel.

I think huh, it's a sweet little ride doesn't need a whole lot of serious work. It just needs to checked over and a few things right well and then this is your nation's bob's. It's a 76 grand marquis, 75 75 yeah. Look at that red and white dash.

Hey this thing is just absolutely mint very nice. I don't need to do it again, though i did it with a lincoln that was nice. I don't think i need to revisit that. I don't think so, but maybe vantage mercedes life because i know you've been enjoying the 420 sel right.

Yes, i've been loving it. It's such a nice ride on the way home. It's just so comfortable and easy on me, hmm! Well, oh, you got junior mint doing something to it, he's putting new plugs on it. I'm looking i'm looking at his flashlight head setup, wizard, where he doesn't have to put it in his mouth.

Like you, i like putting it in my mouth anyway, uh super bird uh super bird still had a little oil leak yep we had to replace one of the 10 a.m fittings and it's called 10am. That's the size of it. Oh, is it this metal this one? Here that goes down to that cooler, it just wouldn't seal, we replaced it and and then we have to figure out how to stop it from overheating when it sits in idles, which maybe a tune, maybe something else. It may just be a characteristic of this engine, which is pretty common as i've seen in the comments, but i'm not going to give up yet i mean at least it'll be a drivable car as long as they don't get stuck in stop and go traffic.

Basically right so, my goodness, i'm getting distracted by this this monstrosity here, timing belt water pump diamond belt wow sc 430. These were some goofy goofy cars. I haven't seen one in a while. Even the stock wheels.

Yes interesting, i guess i've made the rounds, i'm getting distracted here, but the ferrari another big parts waiting game, but is that finally done yeah? We did get the tensioners in today. Now we can put the belts on valve covers oh good, we're getting close to putting the motor back in to start reassembling. 96 f355 with a major engine out. Oh, i see new belts, yes, that's good new belts and then the hill engineering tensioners right to uh.

These are over here, got the tensioners lovely and then we have the hill engineering pulleys. Yes, oh cool! Well, just one tensioner, multiple pulleys, yeah nice and you have uh ooh. That's a greasy thing. That's the cv! Joint this boot goes on for the 355.

Oh for the axle we got some boots coming, so it ruptured yep ruptured. It's it's boot interesting! Well, i'm curious. What's uh ruptured on the countach, i'm curious as well. Please be kind something simple! A little hose clamp.
I hope so because this car has never had its engine out before so with a car. That's never had its engine out for a big, expensive, reseal you're gon na deal with things like this regularly because it's 30 years old, but hopefully it's in an easy to reach spot plea. Please, please you're, not finding rocker panel and frame rest again. Are you no? No not here that baja.

That was really something that was definitely something i sold it actually for four thousand dollars somebody's well, the motor's worth close to that, i suppose so somebody's partnered out, so you guys have seen all the memes with cars falling off the lifts. We're trying not to do that, not not this one, no without any other one. We could do it for views. All it takes is to check the balance.

Just like i'm doing check it here, make sure it's good to go right. You know there's that, guy that there we go supposedly purposely crashed his plane for youtube views. Oh yeah, he happened to have a parachute three gopro angles on it. We won't be doing that with a countach.

No we're not doing that today. Well, we haven't been in here for a year a year, huh nope, we'll start up here where the power train starts. Okay, there's a little drip here. Is this coming from that little cover on the shifter that could be.

It is that, where you're seeing the oil - yes, because it wasn't necessarily engine oil - and it did seem right in the middle just that little cap needs to come off and be resealed huh kind of a girish oil gear - wheel, yeah, okay, let's go ahead and check It over and the rest of the way i'm not seeing drips of anything, there's seepage, but it's just really not anything. To worry about right, there's a drip there on the oil filter, but that's probably from the last yeah. It's definitely not further back. It's that middle one - and it was a weird color that wasn't quite engine oil, so that makes a lot of sense, but i see what four pretty easy to reach bolts, yeah and that's it should be.

Let me take a look, those those bolts up top, though look a little tight yeah. They won't come all the way out. We may have to take it off here. Oh so, what does this thing? Do? That's your shifter! Oh, oh, we'll just see if we can get the cap off, there might be a way where we could partially lower this down just enough to get the bolts out, we'll see, yeah, don't cut a hole in this one.

No we're not going to cut holes. It is but yeah this isn't a hooptie mercy, logo, yes, okay! Well, it's something to do, but still very simple, huh yep, there's a tiny bit coming from right here looks like your slave cylinder on. Oh i'm seeing okay, that's the second puddle, because it's kind of like a different color yeah, there's a little drip there. Okay, so we do have something to do so.
We need a slave cylinder, clutch slave cylinder for a countach yep. Okay. So that's it all right! Well, none of that is yeah because there's that and then there was just a little bit there, but it was kind of it was oily. But then it was kind of blue, which was weird, so i had sprite brake fluid or something because that's so there.

It is a year, that's it a great car. I really can't complain over the past year. I mean that's just normal old car stuff. That's not going to be that bad if the parts can show up at a reasonable time.

So thank you so much for watching. Don't forget my blouse here, uh new hooves garage t-shirt. That kind of looks like this: it's a countach themed, shirt and stickers. Wizard there's stick stickers.

Yes, yes, thank you. So much for watching.

The guy who crashed his plane was a friend of a friend… followed his channel just because the stories were interesting. But intentionally crashing a plane was just too much. He’s going to be in a LOT OF TROUBLE!

Buying a countach is like buying crypto. You buy the dip and hold it and never sell.

POS. I'd rather have an RX-7 or a 3000GT VR-4, either of which would outrun this turd. But if your life is all about greed and rich-man trophies in which you can't even sit comfortably, enjoy the rides to the repair shop.

I feel like the used car prices are really close to cratering. I think right now would be the perfect time to unload it if you are going to do it. If you don't right now you might be holding it for a few years.

Seeing that 1975 Mercury, then the Countach(first year was 1975 IIRC), man you think they were built on different planets. Just interesting to see how much cars really varied from country to country back in the old days pre-internet/pre-globalization.

Kind of a conondrum: If you don't drive it, it break, but if you drive it, it may lower its value, however, if it's broken, it lower its value.. However, the person who's gonna buy it from you will most likely see it as an investment and not driving, therefore damaging it and lowering its value anyway. So, if I was you, I'd stop worrying about its value. You enjoy driving it, so drive it.

On the 'scared of driving a valuable classic', I did a photo shoot of a vintage F1 Maserati with a Grand Prix Bugatti and said to the guys looking after them that it was a shame they're not used. They said they're regularly raced! Seems they get bent now and again but they just repair them and they're still worth millions…
