I have a hunch that mg1 just didnt have enough torque to hold back the engine so it just went straight past redline and grenaded
Im a bit late on this, but you can totally jump a prius, you need just enough juce to start the computers and then it can activate the built in charger which takes power from the high voltage system
So the main reason why the engine blew, the prius is a low compression engine and trying to inject nitrous into the engine blows through everything internally. Your actually lucky it didn’t burst into a fireball.

Meanwhile, a Hyundai Ioniq actually broke the production hybrid land speed record with nitrous.
It work for supercar supra or gtr but no longer for prius
