Oh man looks better than the light. Doesn't it yeah dirty barn, fine, 355. uh? What's going to drive this home, we're going to put the air in it for you? That is the color! I mean you know it's always a convertible, a little bit! Isn't it it's crushing you it's it's eating me: it's not doing all of its things and instead it's it's just trying to decapitate me um, welcome to hoovey's garage, the dumbest automotive channel in all of youtube, and i've just landed in houston to get a second chance At a car that i bought years ago, uh, but it had a very, very bad, ending jeez. Oh oh, this is tragic.
The seller kamal is picking me up. He said it would be in a car, that's pretty obvious that i'd be getting picked up in. So, let's uh, oh well, yeah. Obviously look at that beautiful e30 awesome come on how's it going good to see you wow kamal's, getting into the import business with e30s.
This is one of them all right, so you have eight cards that you've imported in most of the v30 bmws this one, obviously not the stock engine in this one. No, no, it's got the the s50. The e36 engine i used to race cars so don't be worried. I race rally i'll just close my eye all right, but it's definitely a mash-up.
I mean there was the japanese wheels. They look like they're off a gtr on the outside with steering wheels. I i don't think it's a real alpha, a lot of people watching over you. I guess, did you put those stickers on there? No, they came with this.
Oh okay! Well, that's! That's! What's keeping us from yeah from dying right now, man, this is awesome, so you worked in bmws for many years as a dealer. Yes, yes, and i i sold a lot of bmws, but my favorites are: are the ethex, yeah and you're getting in the business of doing it, so you have to sell them right. Of course, huh kovitz put a ding in our work. How much uh i'd like to get about 16 for it? Sixteen thousand - hmm, i got ta, say i'm not sure about the gtr wheels on an e30.
It's definitely a look but uh. I i got stops on this car whoa, all the time, whoa uh. I guess you like these huh. I love these.
I love these. I i'm gon na be the biggest dealer in the united states for e30, so you have aiden already and how many are coming. I have about 20 coming really and we're still buying we buy. I buy them every month i have my cousin in europe that picks them up from all over the world and he he ships them.
So are all these for sale. Yes, well! This one is actually sharp with the body kit, very nice car. So what's this one, this is an uh es. This is a e30 es.
This is an original car. We think it it sold here in the united states and then it was shipped to europe. You've got the uh, yes, western new england college commuter 9293. So this was originally a yuppie car right here and then it ended up in in lebanon.
I ended up in lebanon and i uh my cousin kind of got a hold of it and he called me on and said: let's buy it right away. Well, it is very nice, it's really a beautiful car uh about 18. yeah they've gotten more expensive over the years. Yes and they're they're the hottest car right now, yeah really going up in price, and you know everybody likes them. This one is the v8 really with the six speed transmission. These steering wheels are interesting. Yeah, the steering wheel is holy moly, there's no room for air conditioning on this car, so you don't have a compressor. Well, they had to move the brake booster.
I see as well to get it to fit holy moly. I mean it redlines like in in no time it's it's so fast and so crazy, fast 20 for you, 20, okay for you, 20., and you do want to sell these. So i i should mention i'll put his email on the link in the description below. If you want to contact him on any of these cars toyota, this is a starlet, a starlet.
Yes, it has a turbocharged intercooler, uh racing seats and uh. It has uh all kinds of uh - i i don't know why i'm doing it but 14. I have no idea if that's a good deal or not i've never seen one before i don't know either what for what i paid. You know i'd like to make a couple of grand on a car, so you know well, can we hear this one? Absolutely there we go very fast.
I mean it. It scares me, i drive past cars, but this one is is up there. Well, i didn't come here for this, but i'll think about it i'll think about it, uh, why don't we go see what what we're here to see all right, yeah back in here back here, uh, let's go through that back door! Okay! Well, i'm not greeted with a ferrari but boy. This is really cool: yeah.
68! No! That's a 67 gt! The deluxe package, four speed manual, factory, air-conditioned and factory power. Steering very nice! Is it for sale. Yeah i'll sell this one, how much 46.? Well, i sold my fake one for actually that kind of money, but it was a fastback. This is yeah.
Well nice car yeah. It has it's optioned out. It's it's really nice whoa, a pagoda in china, blue, oh my goodness, and this one is not for sale. That's my baby, so there's some that aren't for sale.
Yes, all right and then z, turbo one owner, lady owned from the new books and records. Look at that cell phone yeah still has the cell phone and when you open the door, the lady talks to you and tells you the door is open. I had a lebaron that did that eighth grand eight grand get to that. Well, that's the cheapest! One! We've seen so far, i know nothing about this old bmw, but it doesn't have a windshield.
This is a 501 uh. It's got the suicide doors yeah. Let me show you, which is pretty cool and uh. I'm sorry.
I got distracted here with the e-type, no problem. Uh 1970 series two also a nice car um, also for sale, no, no, okay! Well, let's just get to the for sale card, then uh. I i see. I know your son has some projects here, that's the audi and then the bmw there yeah um, because i met him before.
But this says this is the car 1996 355 spider. Basically the rock spec right. So in the movie, the rock with the nicholas cage and sean connery, the exact same spec, it's a little scruffy, but it'll clean up a little bit. You know some love, let's see 32 000 miles which isn't bad the interior. Yes, it's! Okay! It needs a little loving, just a little buff and some yeah okay. I mean you never find these like this anymore right, uh, a little bit of battle damage with a curb here on the bot uh-oh uh. What's gon na drive this home we're gon na put air in it for you, but don't worry, it'll be it'll make it. I i'm pretty comfortable with that.
Okay. Well, does it run, of course? Well before we start up, let me just check something because i'm a little traumatized from last time. I had one of these yeah. The recall on these was for fuel fittings.
They would rub on the engine and catch fire which uh i was waiting. I needed to do a belt service right and i thought i could wait a few more months. The car lived that long with the original fuel lines and it decided not so this one, obviously uh it's been done. Yeah, those metal, braided fuel lines are after market and it's been done there you go.
Okay, that's the first thing i worried about to after he showed it. Okay watching yourself. Should i uh roll this up sure yeah i'll looks like the keys are in it. Oh man looks better than the light.
Doesn't it yeah dirty barn find 355. Okay well looks like it has an immobilizer there. You go okay, so far, so good, yeah, no lights, i'm not going to rev it cold. You all say i do that, but i really i don't well.
Maybe we can put air in that tire and, let's uh back it out into the sun huh. That is the color. I mean you know it's always a convertible a little bit. Isn't it yeah hi.
Do we have some tape? We can put some tape on here for you flex seal there you go. Oh, it seems to be running well, i'm gon na give this top a try, because that is a known failure item. The top doesn't work properly. It doesn't.
No. I wanted to see if the top works, because it can be very, very expensive to fix these and uh. This is a very interesting problem, so i followed all the instructions pushed it all back. It's beeps it pops the windows down.
I go to put the top down hit the switch. It's crushing you it's it's eating me! Okay, it needs to flap back back yep. So it's not it's not doing all of its things and instead it's it's. Just trying to decapitate me um, all right aboard we'll we'll just we'll go back up.
Uh go go, go, go, go all right! Let's try and close you back up all right. Well, that's something uh! How about a test drive! I haven't driven one of these since my last one yeah. You should be fine burn to the ground. I really like my 348 because it has manual steering just a more you know, analog feeling, but the power of these there's no disputing. Obviously, oh yeah, that sounds like a priest. Oh yeah, is it caprico yeah? It is a caprice. There's some singular. Let's go i've.
Never pushed it that hard you haven't, i have not. This is the most that you know someone has, but it's it's fun. Maybe i want to change my mind. No i'm just kidding it's amazing seriously.
I never pushed it that hard. A little love with with maybe uh some work on the top yeah, just just a little work. Yes, i mean that can be really expensive, though those top mechanicals, unfortunately yeah and the belt service was done five-ish years ago, four or five years ago. That's what i was told: okay.
Well, it has its cosmetic issues and the top is a big variable, but i mean you never find these cheap anymore right, they've gotten into the stratosphere when it comes to price. This is probably the last chance i'll ever have to buy a cheap 355 ever again, i'm doing it i'm doing it. You are welcome. Thank you.
It's a little early on the valve covers. I mean how many hoopty 355s are left on this earth. I i have to buy it absolutely now. We have to drive 500 miles home and a car that just had a flat tire five minutes ago, we'll be fine trust in ferrari.
Well that wasn't very dramatic, 500 miles home through a dust bowl with high winds. A lot of traffic, but no issues and really that's the norm. For me, when it comes to these ferraris, the 456 i just took on a family road trip, it survived car trek over a thousand miles with no issues the 348 i drove home from florida. So what gives i probably just jinx myself right now by saying that uh, especially since the last time i had a 355, i probably didn't even put 500 miles on it before well, that fuel line went loose and the car completely burned to the ground, and it Was really sad because that was my first experience ever with an exotic car and of course i was very lucky to find that hundred thousand mile 348 for 35 000., which is my favorite car or well.
It may still be my favorite car because there are a lot of pluses with the 355. i'll, probably get into my next video talking about the differences of the cars and we're coming up on two years of ownership with the 348. But this thing 380 horsepower versus 296. It's like 20 less horsepower than a 360..
Yet you get an experience in a car that you just can't get with any modern ferrari that six-speed gated shifter with plenty of power, but not too much that you're going at a speed to experience some excitement that is completely dangerous and would send you directly to Jail with these cars, you can really enjoy them and not be at a dangerous speed, and the 355 is a much more timeless design. So, in my eyes it makes sense why these things have gone up so much in value. There's a lot of cars that i don't understand, but this one this is sort of the last of the old school ferrari experience with modern performance and well timeless design. It makes sense that a non-f1 paddle shift car is a hundred thousand dollars now this one. Well, it was way way less than that i traded a nsx for my original 355 around uh four years ago and the nsx i had 45 or 50 000 into it in this car. Well, it may be more scruffy than my old black one, but it is yellow. It has lower mileage and i paid 10 grand more which in today's market is a great deal. Even with this car's issues.
You can really see the stuff that i drove through in the night, with this top i mean just so much dirt and dust all over the car and the car itself. The paint job is probably pretty good. I imagine it is because this is all clear bra. It looks a little weird, probably can't see it with video, but it's a clear bra on the entire car, which, unfortunately, the clear bra couldn't protect the car from whatever smack this is, which yeah a lot of damage.
There paint peeling on the door here so i'll have to paint at least this far down in yellow on the car to fix it. In addition, the wheels it looked like they were restored with a rattle can and they're peeling really badly absolutely hideous along with the lug nuts. So, that's something of course, the tires this one was flat, but the date codes are like 2003 on the fronts and i think 13, on the rear. So it'll need a new set of tires.
The air conditioning doesn't work, the top doesn't work and the interior, though it is actually pretty nice the seats a little weathered, but not too bad. It doesn't have any of the sticky button issues this console. I took it out of the way it's broken a little bit but covers just fine. The cigarette lighter didn't work, so i had to buy a power port to get home.
The top obviously doesn't work, but the horn does and that just takes me back to childhood, playing on the playstation like need for speed or something like that: driving the ferrari and honking the horn over and over again, because i thought it was so awesome buying. One of these four years ago was such a big deal and it took every time that i had and it was a very short-lived thing now. Obviously i have a lot of cars, but i really never got to experience the 355, so i'm excited to do so. Plenty of cargo space for traveling, a suspicious white powder, though all over this thing, needs lots and lots and lots of detailing, as you can see, but nothing that seems terminal except for one thing.
One little scary thing on this car that i heard when i bought it and well it's a noise. So a common problem on these 355s is exhaust leaks from cracked headers, but this one has already had the headers replaced, and i hear this tick. That sounds external to the engine, not like it's an internal thing. They also have an issue with valve guides, failing, but that's usually a dramatic failure at high rpm.
This one obviously didn't fail at higher rpm. It sounds like a little more tick than it should. It's also a little oily on the valve covers, and it's dripping something underneath here all oily, but who cares? I mean for the price with these issues i certainly can't complain and it's a yellow 355.. It's just gorgeous, even though i just drove this thing, 500 miles after catching a 6 am flight. I just have to hop in and drive it again. I mean it's just it's just that good! Oh, i'm probably gon na title this video, something like buying the last cheap ferrari 355 on earth, which i know cheap, is relative. Given the price i paid, it's certainly not at a hooptie price level, but these used to be cars that were affordable and attainable for somebody that works middle class really hard. They wanted to treat themselves to a ferrari and other than the crazy maintenance.
The engine out. Every five years i mean they could realistically afford this car, but now well now they're so out of reach, just like so many other things and with the secret being out of these cars. Even though i bought a lot of expensive cars recently, i knew i couldn't let this go. This was probably the last chance i would ever have to own a 355 for regular, decent, attainable money, and i certainly don't regret my decision one bit, but for those of you that are missing the hooptie contents.
Well, there's hoopties coming in january december, you kind of go big, because the youtube ad revenue is at its highest uh, but there are some hoopties coming for january. Hopefully this experience with the 355 goes better than the last one, but i'm already thrilled in the tunnel. Thank you for watching.
So happy for you, buying another F355. That seller had some really sweet cars in his garage.
Love the purchase of 355 these are awesome cars. I like the coupe the best not much of fan of drop top but the yellow is hard to beat. I would keep it, get it back to factory condition with few mods.
Man you are lucky to have acquired that for such a good price. I always wanted to buy one of these when they were 40-50k, now that I can swing that for a toy theyβve double in price. Ahh, first world problems
Great video, do you ever come across or have any interest in a Lotus Esprit? Seems like it would fit right in.
He says I won't rev it cold.. then revs it cold. That's a Doug move π²

Talk about tempting fate – to call this new Ferrari not a Hooptie before you take it to the wizard.
So u gave my nephew Logan Johnson a car in one of your videos, I know…it made good content and got hundreds of thousands of views and you looked like a great guy and all. But afterwards, when the cameras were off, you never gave him the title and eventually took the car back. I'm a huge fan of yours and it really let me down to hear that and it broke his heart because as you know they did fall on very hard times. He is also a huge fan of yours since we all live in the same city and seeing someone from Wichita/Andover do as much as you have done and continue to do with cars is amazing to me, and you made that kids year with that car and having him in your video. I just hope you know how much influence you have over the younger generation that looks up to you brother. I wish you nothing but the best and I will always continue watching and loving your content, I just feel as a man, it's my duty to let you know, that one hurt man.
For me I'd much rather have a 360 and hope to get one in the next couple years!
Plastic car wrapping: the latest consumer rip off fad.
Thousands to put on. Lasts a few year. Fades. They charge you to take it off.
Damages the paint.
What's not to love? Lol
