My brother bought a 2010 Prius 3 years ago with only 27k miles. Within 3 months the battery failed and needed replacing. His local Toyota dealership replaced it with a reconditioned battery. It cost £2,000 in total, £700 of which was labour. 22,000 miles and 26 months later, that battery failed. The car still only has 49,000 miles on the clock, looks and drives like new. He's now had a third brand new OEM battery fitted from a local non-Toyota garage, who charged only two hours labour (£140) one fifth of the cost from the dealership. The morals of the story: low mileage and lack of regular use destroys hybrid batteries. Installing a reconditioned battery pack is a false economy. Oh, and main dealers are the real crooks of the automotive industry.

This is the best car purchase you can make. Score massive discount, spend $1200 for refurb battery with warranty and you're back in business.

(I also noticed the Trailer Hitch… That may explain the dead battery.)

I know this is a 5-year old video… but I suspect my 2015 Prius HV battery is getting weaker. I'm planning on getting the rebuild kit from this same place Electron-Hybird-Solutions, I'm torn between the remanufactured/reconditioned option and the brand new with cylindrical module version they offer, the latter costs almost as the OEM battery from Toyota assuming DIY install + core return, so why bother with brand new aftermarket? But the remanufactured version (like the one you installed) is much lower price. My Gen3 has 100K ODO and I plan on driving this thing for the longest time. They say remanufactured ones don't last long. Since I will be paying for my kit instead of getting it for free like you did, it would be great if you could provide an update on how the battery performed or if you had issues again. Who know, I might get a response…
