I had a lower mileage twin dually to that and I was surprised it didn’t tow that great, leaked everywhere and was a pain to change oil. Also no engine braking
Four years later, these trucks are going for two to three times that price. Shows what people actually want vs. the crap they are making today.
Old Dodges are the best. Certainly can't get the diamond plating and steel wheels like that anymore.
Now you got the million mile
The "KDP" aka killer dowel pin, is not in the 24 valve it is in the 12 valve.
They'd probably want $18,995 for it in 2022.
That dash shatters like glass 😂
The engine is strong but the truck itself is el guapo
These are great trucks, but they are super expensive to work on. If you can't do it yourself, prepare to pony-up some $$$.
89 was actually the first year of the Cummins motor in a dodge
I still drive my 97 Dodge 2500 4×4 Cummins 12 valve. It is still running strong, and if something does go wrong, I don't have to take out a second mortgage to have it repaired.
Great engine but these trucks have a split frame in the rear they are rivited together in the rear they are known to break when using them as a commercial tow truck.
Yes, that list of thing you spoke of is true, but, you left out the reason that all of those things happened, minus the electronics, SHEAR NEGLECT AND ABUSE. I have a 99 just like the one in the video, with 210k, it's had a hard life, but I've maintained mine, and therefore have non of the other issues you spoke of. There are tons of Fords and Chevys in just as bad condition, due to lack of maintenance, so, a little perspective goes a long ways. You can destroy any make or model truck if you want to. BTW, I regularly go to the pick your parts, and rarely see Dodge trucks there, but, not the same for ford and chevy.
Cool
that motor has the 53 block that has super think walls in the block and it cracks easily…. this motor was made in mexico… so this 24 valve I would stay far away from.
he didnt close the hood all the way.
What year Dodge was it? And the 8 foot bed.
Driving my 95/5.9 till I retire. Got 450K on it . Have not touched the motor. rebuilt the front end…rebuilt the transmission (at 420K its a manual). Its a work horse with a service body. Handles the weight with the extra springs in rear. Its my daily driver. Gets 20MPG. Luv this truck
