Lets see Hoovie, My 996 A/C works great, even when it's 110+ degrees here in Vegas. The parts are not that expensive, AND not hard to find.
It's comfy on long drives and works as a daily driver, all the things that my 993, (And my 912), were not.
So now I'm looking for a 997 and will never go back to an air cooled 911. I just hope all the derision from the airheads will keep the prices down.

Volkswagen has a policy of selling new vehicles at cost and making a killing on the spares. For reasons of supply and demand the aftermarket parts with a good reputation are not much cheaper. Why go in at forty per cent cheaper when you will get the same volume of sales at a ten per cent discount? I would not recommend aftermarket parts on the braking system. But it keeps the dealer network very happy.

Lol, considering the federal government is basically mandating ICE cars out of existence, I think we’ll look back at even current air-cooled 911 prices and chuckle

Because the 911 is the poor man's 928. Sorry – I gotta call balls and strikes. the 928 was European "Car" of the Year 1979. No other sports car including the 911 has ever won "Car" of the year. The 928 has won 2 production car land speed record at Bonneville (1986 and 2020) – the 911 has exactly won none. Even 911 enthusiast Magnus Walker has started his 928 collection – its Now or Never for the 928 still the biggest bang for the buck in Porsche's line up.

IT's an 80s classic Tyler. I honestly think you did the right thing in buying it.

Always wanted one. Worked all my life and about ready to retire and still can’t afford to buy this model as you present it. I’m a teacher. Oh well, reality can be painful but it’s free to continue wishing! Right, Hoovie?

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Adam Weber says:

I miss my 911. This one reminds me of my 84. but Its the the same year as the 1985 I had and learned to drive a stick on.

Loved the out-takes at the end. Yeah, on my BMW-based channel I'm learning more and more about the value of editing – and how much footage (gigs?) gets left on the cutting room floor…

912e in Texas w/ OEM fuel injection. I agree that if cars have the equivalent of a soul, these beauties have them. It's my mechanical family member.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ryan Barnard says:

And today worth 60 plus probably… I hope they come down in price one day.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Patrick Larochelle says:

a few years later and that Porshce now goes for 60-70k and the turbo model is about 120k 🤣🤣🤣

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dolores Patterson says:

I must be nuts because I live in Bakersfield, Ca which is actually quite hot and I had the blower disconnected, I believe a Porsche to be a real sport car, should be bare bones, essentially. I like my windows down and sometimes I even open my sun roof. LOL

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Bolick says:

AC lol…. welcome to Mid 80’s Germany! I spend a lot of time in Germany, they’re not scared of sweating!!!!!!
