I would say it just needs two new balls. Yes, where's the other? Bowl should be a second one I Thought there would be, but oh, there it is. So they're uneven. Ones dropped a little lower than the other.

Natural uneven. What do you mean natural? That's natural. No, it's not. Yeah, it is.

Who's not? Read it on Wikipedia Welcome to Hoopies Garage! The the dumbest Automotive channel in all of YouTube And this: this is the noise that my beautiful Mercedes S600 makes every morning when I started up. Yeah, it doesn't sound good. But a little backstory in this: If you missed the last video, this was an incredible deal. I think nine thousand dollars for the flagship of the Mercedes line.

In 1996. They spent over a billion dollars developing this platform and well, that was a long, long time ago. This thing has 102 000 miles and numerous issues that weren't disclosed by the seller. So in Euro agent Bob bought it.

He's a car dealer a friend of mine. he buys with his passion obviously, but still needs to make money. Uh, he saw this and thought, well I can still make a buck, but it'll take a long time to sort this thing out and uh, it's better for me and well I impulsively bought it because it's an S600 with the V12 It's so dang cool. but uh yeah, reality is sinking in a little bit.

So today we're going to take it to the car Wizards and see what he thinks about all the issues. In addition, it did dribble a little oil on the driveway. Go figure. This thing probably needs a lot of work.

The nine thousand dollar purchase price was probably just the beginning. Uh, but uh, let's see what is Wizard doing today. It sounds like that: Atari Game Pong Are you just playing with it I Never heard that one before. What does that mean? I Guess there's not a lot of work to do in the shop today, huh? Yeah, we're kind of caught up right now.

Oh very good. Well, that is your V12 Euro Asian Bob special. Yes, it's very, very nice too. Yeah, so 90 was it 95 95 actually? xj12.

I Had a little bit of an accident in the car wash, but uh, put a clamp on you. There's plenty of other issues of course, so of course hop in. I'll take it for a ride. You ready? Yep, sounds like a song.

It's almost kind of does amazing power, but it's clunky. Whoa. Yes, the suspension is. uh, it's quite bad.

yes, so it makes the the acceleration kind of scary. Well, I mean it doesn't feel like unstable, it just feels very stiff. Yes! so hopefully it's just the balls. I Hope it's the balls and keeps it for stiff right? The lights I Got the ESP light on as well.

Um, that is stuck on low so you're getting nothing but cold air no matter what. Yeah, okay, sorry about that. You see the buttons have sunken in. Yeah, open that up.

Oh well, that's the phone. Yes. and it still has the original protective wrap on it. That is so cool.

Yeah. So anyway, and this thing moves. It does. It means business.

My Jack does not do this. And for a normally aspirated V12 I mean that's moving. It is. It's moving quick.
Yeah, but uh yes does have issues. some of them self-inflicted like the antenna. and it was dribbling a little while in the driveway. So before we get started fixing, any know how much.

What? Well, I bought it from Bob for nine grand. Nine grand? Yes. Would you pay for your Jag about that? Hmm. before we go in, do you want to line up your Jag for a drag race? Uh no.

You know that car is all about Pace space. and Grace it's not about race. Oh I've never driven an Xj12 we ought to go drive it. I got the keys on me? Sure.

Yeah. All right. Okay, here's the keys to the finest car you've ever driven. Wow.

All right. Look. oh you're stuck. Look at that fall wood in the instrument cluster.

Wow. All right the Jag Bings and bongs I don't know what that was I was happy to see you or something. Well other than that it sounds like a rabbit. Too hard because it's cold.

but two competitors right here. We need a 750 IL BMW and like a Toyota Century V12 And then we have a complete lineup of V12 luxury sedans here. mid 90s, 90s. Oh goodness.

All right, it's a floaty boat. Absolute silence. Smooth like an electric motor. Wow, it's a different ball game than the S600 this.

Well, if my suspension was working, it would ride somewhat like this. But this is the absolute lap of luxury right. Here it is. and nowadays you know Jaguar Like everybody else, they're trying to be sporty.

so they don't build cars that that feel like this anymore. They want them to handle and turn seats. Oh, this is wonderful isn't it? You want to trade? Uh, let's see if we can get yours fixed. First you want me to pay the bill and then trade? Yes.

Okay, well I'll turn around and then we can look at the 600. But there's the oomph Yeah, it's It's not fast, No, but it is smooth. It is super smooth and that sound good. It does sound good unfortunately though.

You hear that belt squeak. Yeah, it's much worse when it's cold. Oh wow. Oh wow.

I Don't know if it's better to check while running or oil a little wet down in there. Ah, okay, and you notice now that it's warmed up, it's running a little uneven. Yep, looks like a rib cage. Yeah, it does, but there's no check.

Engine light definitely feels like it's missing though. Yeah, like a coil. When it gets warm, it's just around the Border I Don't know. Yeah, we'll have to see all I'm seeing an ear light wizard.

there's there's some orange peel on the trunk there. Oh no. like it was a quick touch-up job and then the uh a six and the 600 is a little low so that's the thing. That definitely is a thing.

This was stupid, but thankfully an easy fix. Just a new new mast. one of them's oh my goodness, it kind of looks like a anyways. yeah, but uh, before we go up, why don't we uh, wander around the hoopties a little bit? huh? Yeah, let's do it.
So you said you didn't have much to do. Does that mean most of my cars are done, your cars are done and it's just a slow time of the year. January and February can be kind of slow I See next week's pretty full but right now we finished all our jobs and so the 68 Chargers done. it's done okay.

and then the SL500 I was just being stupid on the top, not working. You just need to unplug the defroster to get the hard top off right. You looked it over. Service did.

otherwise. good car, everything's good. I think I need to let this one go to be honest with you. 60 000 original miles it sold I'm bringing a trailer for uh 30 and 30.

and then I bought it for 2022 with fees shifted up here. Probably gonna need a little money for a S600 repair, so maybe 25 if you want it. Silverado Edition Very very rare. see the special interior.

Yes, so there's my sales pitch I Guess no, don't put an antenna on it CTS-V is sold. Still waiting on somebody to pick it up somebody? The Mustang is done, but it's way too cool for me to drive it home without windows show. Yeah, everything's done. We're still here, huh? yeah? Send it to my guy in Florida who rebuilds things and he's working with that to see if we can fix the cluster or get us a good used one.

He's he works with all the Jaguar Rolls-Royce Bentley Dealerships in Miami so well, you don't have to worry about that kind of stuff with Mercedes there's just other things to worry about. Hmm, a little bit of weird overspray there too. Look, there's a there's a tape line right there. so Euro Asian Bob Bought this car on marked.

it's a lesser-known Bringing trailer Cars and Bits competitor and it was a dealer that has sold a lot of cars on there and they listed two things that were wrong, like various minor imperfections in the paint I suppose and we're on the driver's side bolster, but nothing about any mechanical issues at all. but obviously it's an S600 from 1996 going to have some issues, but the fact that seller didn't say anything I mean obviously you go in thinking okay, there's going to be some stuff so let's see how bad it is. 600 I See dollar signs? Okay, yeah, so first of all, the oil leak like you said, was on the belt so you think causing it to squeak and there's a lot of oil there. Huh? Yeah, if you look up in here, it's just coated I Don't know if it's a front main seal or a hose or a valve cover gasket.

It's so tight in here because it's a V12 It's packed in here, but the whole front of the motor is just saturated in oil. Okay, pretty bad. Check out these suspension over here. So on the front, it's not hydraulic right? Just standard suspension.

Yeah, it looks like a normal shock. It's all cruddy here. Yeah, so front shocks need front shocks. They do look very original, don't they? Yeah, otherwise pretty firm there.
I mean it's really riding rough in the back, which is where the hydraulic portion is. Yeah, somebody's been in here. It's like a I don't know. different kind of a nut there.

that is a big nut. What's that? huh? It's like a a standard relay that's been busted. the coil is exposed and there's some random wiring. What's up I Don't understand.

Okay, you don't even know what that goes to, huh? No, that's not Mercedes that's somebody put that on there I Mean the only thing aftermarket here is the radio, but that have nothing to do with tied to the starter is that what that? yellow wires tied into the start or some? I don't know what they're trying to do there. Maybe they bypass something, a security system, or oh, because the keys annihilated. Yeah, there's oil all over these exhaust manifolds straight up from my flashlight. Yeah.

I think all this oil is valve covers. Okay, which isn't the end of the world. Transmission has a little bit of a seepage in the back from the rear seal in the back. Why is it rubbing on the rubber on the disc? there? You mean the flex disc.

You see how it's shiny like it's rubbing. Yeah, what's it hitting? Oh, it's it's uh, insulation. You see. It's kind of.

oh. the insulation fell down. Yeah, it's rubbing on it. Well, that's easy to fix.

Yeah, this transmission mount has collapsed completely. Let me check the motor mounts. Yep, those are collapsed. perfect motor mounts transmission mount.

There's that. is that green wire part of the relay there just getting tied around. Whatever they're trying to do with some of it there. I wonder because you can't get the keys anymore.

and that key that I have is just completely exploded That this was their little workaround bypass with the ignition switch or something. That's fine, if it works, it just needs that broken pieces replaced with a new one. right? Here's the insulation coming down on the drive shaft there. I'll probably just cut it all out.

Yeah, that makes sense. This looks is this Lauren sir. Exhaust: I Don't think this is pretty Factory This looks it's got the Mercedes part number and that that's the Lawrence are there. Yeah, so just the back part is Lauren sir.

Okay, they cut it in, oiled it right here. huh? So the rest of stock that's CV or BatDad Flex disc looks good. Yep, nothing's leaking back here. Here's your balls.

there's Yup. Yup, there's my accumulator ball right there. Let's see if the shocks are leaking. No.

I Look okay. that one looks good. The boot looks good. It happens a lot to a car that's been sitting for a long time.

So I would say it just needs two new balls. Yes, where's the other ball? Should be a second one? I Thought there would be, but oh, there it is. So they're uneven ones dropped a little lower than the other. Natural uneven.

What do you mean natural? That's natural? No, it's not. Yeah, it is. Who's not read it on? Wikipedia Look at your suspension fixed. We need to scan for the ESP light.
What's going on with that? You got some oil leaks, some shocks up front, motor mounts, transmission mount. yeah, let's uh, do a little scanning, shall we? Yeah, let's do that all right. The car is making very vintage 90 computer noises like it's about to dial up to the Internet. but uh, it's the tough book is giving you codes.

Yes, I've got two codes for the steering angle sensor. one of them just on uh, saying it's not initialized so that could be pretty simple. The other one is a brake pressure sensor fault code so I will need to look into that. Okay, so the steering angle sensor, brake pressure sensor potentially.

then I have all the lights off other than the windshield washer, which hopefully that doesn't leak out the moment you just start pouring it in. Oh, of course it will always does. Of course it will all right. Well, you want to do some math? definitely.

I'm excited for this one. Okay, we're oh, we're hyper car shopping. Three million 290 for the Pagani Huayra which is hard to say. Look 31 Grand a month that that's it.

That's it. What a bargain. Uh I Don't think this wire has the same generation V12 though the Zonda did I think that has the newer Twin Turbo from Mercedes. But yeah, I get your point? Uh, bad? huh? Yeah, Okay, hopefully we're not making one of those Pagani payments.

No, it'll be a good contribution towards it. Ow Okay, no. get started. It hurt.

Get started. Yes. Front shocks 400 bucks? That sounds about right. Okay, valve cover gaskets is a big job.

It's 12 hours to get it all apart. The intakes come off 1200 bucks. Okay, well I can relax. Yeah, that's pretty bad.

Next, while we're there, you know it has that misfire when it's warm. Yes, very likely one or two of the coils is getting weak. We're gonna have to pull them all off anyways to get to the valve. get the intake off.

Yes, it'll be an additional 12.50 on top of the 1200. Oh, because they're a hundred dollars per coil? Yeah, but that's better than the newer 600s where they have the whole coil thing in a row where you have to buy the six and that's what. Two thousand bucks for Mercedes or a thousand for rebuilds per side. so a little more reasonable there.

Okay, huh? To cut the insulation that's rubbing on the drive shaft? 75 bucks. Okay, the rear suspension balls. It needs to be neutered and then reattached. Yes, 550.

but they'll still be hanging unevenly. Yes, the natural way. It's not natural. Okay, 550.

Yeah, the HVAC if I can repair, it'll be about 150 bucks. Okay, to put a good used head unit in, it'll be 300 bucks. Sounds about right. Yeah.

Repair the dash button. 75? Yes, Yes. Bring them all back out, please. Your ESP light is the brake pressure sensor and also the steering wheel needs to be recalibrated.
300 bucks. For those, That's pretty good news for a what could be a bad light. Okay, fix a relay that was dangling and fix up the wiring. 75 bucks.

Maybe figure out what it does too. That would be nice. but I have a feeling it has to do with with the key which I can get. Oh, it's not my pocket but I can get another one of those key blanks to where it has a spring again and doesn't do that.

I'll do that on my own. Yes, yes, I can handle that. Big savings. Okay, an antenna Mast which also needs to be brought back to the erect position for the car wash.

75 bucks? that's not I mean that's an expensive car wash. but so to do everything is 45.50 Almost half what you paid for the car. Here's so nine thousand dollars for the car. half of what I paid is going into repairs.

These are all things that the seller did not disclose at this auction which is I'd say that's a lot to not disclose I mean big oil leaks, the suspension, not the car not riding right? Um yeah. and then of course I'm gonna have to go and buy AMG arrows for it because those Wheels look so much better. and then I'm going to have to have all the Cosmetics done because I'm going to want it to look nice. You know all the little painting things that would be 20 grand in this thing? Oh my goodness yes that's I Mean that's probably what the car will be close to worth at the end of it.

Maybe a little more, certainly a little more. but I'm an idiot so thank you for watching Hit Your Head Anymore. No, I'm not gonna hit my head anymore, but I could just start buying nice ones to begin with I could learn this over and over again. It's just it's dumb.
