I had a silver on grey 1985 LSC back in 1998 that was in really good shape. Referred by my friends as the "Space Shuttle", it is still hands down one of the coolest car I've ever owned. Mine was a unique example as the VIN code showed it had the standard V8(150 hp), and that it was a 4 door sedan, when it in fact had the 302 HO (200 hp TBI, the SEFI of the next year had 225) and it was of course a 2 door coupe. Yay for cheaper insurance! Even though it was an LSC, it had chrome bumpers and a digital dash(Later LSC had color matched bumpers and analog gauges). The digital dash could be switched to km/h which made for a funny gag traveling down the expressway. Thankfully it had the full leather interior and 8 way adjustable Recaro style seats.

That car was an absolute blast to drive, and would do the most wicked burnouts. I mean really, doing the old AOD 1-2-1 shuffle and it would happily settle into a nonstop burnout that I'm pretty sure would have melted the tires off had I never decided to let up. I once even shrouded an entire 2 story apartment building in tire smoke, not even remotely exaggerating. Respectable acceleration too for such a heavy car. Handling wasn't bad, neither was the braking with the 4 wheel disc brakes. One time I was slaloming some heavy curvage at a high rate of speed coming back home, and when I pulled in the driveway the brake smell was obviously intense. Just out of curiosity I looked at the driver's rear rotor and I'll be damned if there wasn't a little flame sitting on top like a candle lol. God I loved that car.

The car served me faithfully for a few years, but the need for a different type of vehicle(I started a construction company), along with leaking front and rear seals and ball joints in need of servicing, forced me to retire it for what was supposed to be a temporary period. I basically forgot about her with my business taking up all of my time an attention, so unfortunately I let her sit unattended for too long and mice wound up chewing up some wiring and destroying some of the interior. At the time I just didn't feel like putting the time and money into it to repair everything that needed to be done(looking back that was a terrible mistake on my part), so I retired it permanently to a salvage yard.

To this day I still miss my Hot Rod Lincoln!

Edit: Interesting that you think a model line that sold for 2 years longer than the mark VIII, which you love, was a "failure". While I don't disagree that the Mark VIII is a much superior revision of the iconic line, I'd hardly call it's predecessor less than successful.

Those are not the original lsc front seats. More like Bill blass. My 1986 Lincoln Mark 7 is in better condition with 277,788 miles. And still working with air ride power by 1998 Lincoln Mark 8 air pump. Identical connector.

I'm the proud owner of a '92 Mk7 which I love! It's the perfect car….comfort, speed, handling, style, economical, plus it goes up in value.
I'm currently shopping for another – nice ones starting at 15K.
