I understand BMW is now considering a new strategy: supplying all cars from new with the check engine light already illuminated. That way, the potential buyer is not unduly shocked 400km down the track………..

It's a shame when people that really can't afford these German or any Luxury cars and try to take short cuts to fix them and make them worse.
Avoid cheap bmws, avoid ones without service, they will be very expensive to repair. A great bmw to buy is right off the lease with cpo warranty. Or you can buy them at carmax with the extended warranty. I bought all my bmws with warranty or new. Meticulously maintained and was problem free. I did buy an old bmw with 120k miles once and boy it had every single problem you could think of. Hoovie needs content so he buys broken ones.
Whats the name of the shop
The only good BMW cars were the ones from the 1990s or before. BMWs after 2000 should just be gutted and converted to electric cars, to make them reliable.
