This one is a one owner 95 GMC with 67 000 miles and it is hauled literally nothing in the bed its entire life. Literally nothing. Okay, we'll start with that. look under the carpet.

Wow, it's like not even a scratch. It's never been used. Okay, that's starting to look a lot better here. Let's see if you find anything I'll give you the light to help you as well.

Yeah, that's right. These have these little handy dandy light up. yeah you just tuck on the ground. Ah, this truck is clean.

but I don't know about being that clean I didn't know I could open my mouth that way. Oh I don't need a proctology exam this early. Welcome to Hoovie's Garage! The dumbest Automotive channel in all of YouTube and I am absolutely in love right here With my latest purchase it is a 1995 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT Four-wheel drive and as you can see it is the best color from the 90s from The Rad Air of these trucks Teal metallic, bright teal metallic and it looks absolutely awesome. Not only that, but it's a 60 000 mile one owner truck and it looks absolutely new in the wrapper.

It has some awesome accessories on it and so far it has been absolutely amazing. These trucks the GMT, 400 and 800 chassis. it's like my comfort food. I Keep coming back to them currently Drive the 2005 Escalade almost daily and before that I had the 1994 Suburbans GMC Suburban with the older interior now I Do think the old interior looks better, more retro.

very cool. But 1995 is the first year of the facelift inside and it's a weird transition year with a lot of cool sort of old and new stuff as it was all mixed together which I shall show you in a tour. but let's talk these trucks anyway. So I was a car dealer for a long time as many of you know and I work for a Chevy Cadillac BMW store before that.

but when I opened my dealership I could go to them for their trade-ins and this is what was being traded in. this was starting around 2010 before I spectacularly failed at being a car dealer in 2015 because I was like a drug dealer trying to do too much of his own stuff. Wanted to keep absolutely everything. if I got a truck like this, I'm sure I would have wanted to keep it until I ran out of money or wanted something else and then sold it.

So I was not very good at making money, but I did certainly love these trucks and every single one that came in. I would try to buy it wholesale and it was so easy to sell back when they were. well, this with low miles would have been probably expensive, but still most of them with around 150 000 miles would have been about five grand retail, maybe seven if it was super super nice. but nowadays, well, that's long gone.

I did pay a lot of money for this truck High Teens And well I do think it is certainly worth it, especially when you consider today's trucks. You can't get a half ton four-wheel drive crew cab truck for under 50. Grand Anymore a full-size Big Daddy pickup truck. I Mean they're just so insanely expensive, just as the base model and by the time you get up to options nowadays, Sierra Denali is now nearly a hundred thousand dollar truck in some specs and it is absolutely insane.
They are rolling living rooms. They're basically Cadillacs now the the finest luxury vehicles that are pickup trucks. Second and well, there's a lot of things that are better on these trucks than the new ones. I Think these offer a better luxury experience and ownership experience than the new trucks in a lot of ways.

and I'm going to prove it to you today with a tour of this time capsule of a truck and then we are going to road trip at 600 miles home even though it seems it has been sitting for quite a while. and once again I got old tires. So I'm gonna start with the amazing period Aftermarket Accessories this truck has that really don't survive this well unless it was very low mileage and garage. Starting with the Magnum deflecta Shield here which is the matching bright teal metallic as well I'm not sure if I've ever seen that or remember seeing the one that matched the paint of the truck so well which is just absolutely hilarious.

You can also see it has these extra bumperettes on it, sort of like a vintage touch to push people around, but obviously that has never been touched. And then you have the side steps here which are Blended in very nicely into the truck that can actually hold a lot of weight too. But look at the overall condition, just absolutely insane how nice this thing is. The wheels.

They're alloy little bitty things only 16 inches in diameter so you can have these nice thick Michelin tires which are a bit weather checked. They don't look quite as old as say the 68 Charger tires though. So I think I'm going to be okay. Here we go again.

I know, but look around this thing. Absolutely no rust at all and this one also has the Toppers You can see the camper bed a nomad Raider here and you look inside. well it is completely finished out now when I bought this I thought well I'm going to rip all this out and make it a truck again. but now I see it, it's It's so darn nice.

They carpeted the bottoms. They have the sides here which actually sort of looks like the older interior. It needs to be taped back down, but the older kind of pleated interior from 1994 was still carried over here. But you can imagine this bed has never been used for anything other than basically hauling carpet.

It's pristine it is. Flawless It is just absolutely unbelievable truck bed that has never seen the elements. And I'll have to give a shout out to Legend Auto Sales the people who sold this to me because this truck is exactly as described. It showed up with a dead battery which I swapped out in five minutes.

Other than that, absolutely fantastic. So that's all the custom touches on this thing. but overall it is such a cool Speck of truck. You go inside here with the SLT package.
You get the ultra soft leather here which it is very very soft and nice even with its age. but then look at the cushioning of the seat. you do not get this in new trucks anymore. any new car anymore because well, ergonomically they think it's better to have stiffer seats I'm not sure but you're getting this thing.

oh it's it is so ridiculous and it's like a rolling lazy boy and that's why I Love General Motors products from this era because they are so dang comfortable I Made videos about Buicks Made videos about Cadillacs Made videos about so many but they all have this same theme of just unbelievable Comfort When it came to the seats and the ride, partially because of those thick tires but also the suspension, well, it's just nice and soft and comfortable. but you look, holy crap isn't this thing ridiculous? 66 000 miles but it doesn't even look at. You can see one of the weird 1995 things. You have a driver's side airbag which was mandated by that year but the passenger wasn't yet.

So instead you get cup holders I Believe 1995 is the only year for this style of dashboard. a airbag would have been put here after this year, but you have the modern Delco stereo and the climate control and the gauges which look how orange the needles are just nuts. And then you get the center console with this updated look which has a clipboard here which actually kind of works pretty well for a phone center console with the coin slot. Once again it looks like nothing has ever been in there.

and then instead of cup holders here you have well storage for your tape. So which I think I can swap this out for one that's cup holders because it is removable. You can see the transfer case down here just shifted into four wheel drive which I believe this lights up when you put it in four wheel drive to let you know all four wheels are being powered and then you have, well a tiny Back Seat But back here I mean look, it looks like nobody's ever sat back there. Here is the window sticker.

in 1995 it was 26 770 which even adjusted for inflation is not too terrible for a top of the line truck. And of course the average income related to inflation Was higher back then, so this was a lot more affordable. You see trucks that are starting to pile up on car lots nowadays because they are so unaffordable and with interest rates? well, there's going to be a lot of nice. Chevy GMC Ford Pickup trucks just sitting on the lot rotting because nobody's going to buy them at 80 000 dollars or higher.

But this one. Yeah. Twenty six thousand dollars. Uh, Eight thousand dollars.

An option. Seventy eight hundred dollars in options which included the 5.7 liter V8 engine locking, rear diff trailer and equipment. and this one even got the auxiliary battery for 134 dollars for I Imagine the camper in the back. But the best part for me obviously is the color.
I Love green. so bright, teal, metallic solid is what I wanted and the gray Ultra soft leather is absolutely fantastic. So I I Am ridiculously happy and you've got to look under the hood of this thing. It's it's A Marvel An absolute Marvel Barely any oxidation at all on the exposed metal surfaces There you can see on like the belt tensioner and the alternator.

It's just so stinking nice. So simple. I Mean anybody that has any kind of mechanical knowledge at all Basic Basic Basics Basically none could understand what's going on under here. Compared to Modern cars, which we've taken apart a lot recently, it doesn't make any sense.

The mess of wiring everywhere, the covers needed to cover up all the ugliness with this. Well, it's a tried and true 350 in 1995. I Believe the last year one of those weird carryovers of the throttle body fuel injection which is down there. in 1996, you got the Vortec, but I'm going off a memory here.

so I believe some GMT 400 nuts will go crazy if I'm wrong. but I do believe that's also got the updated transmission so you got the old engine but then a more modern Transmission in 96 it went all Vortec which was absolutely fine. but this you know, these old 350s with the throttle body fuel injection. they just have a different you know kind of nice feel to them.

definitely not as fast, but I really like it. You can see it has a battery tender on it because obviously this truck sat a lot being only 66 000 miles. But look how ridiculously nice it is. And one other thing I Imagine this is Factory I Don't remember this, but you have a little portable flashlight right here which you can pull out and click on, click on right here and you can look about your engine bay.

but then when you're all done, you switch the thing off and you wind it up sort of like a fishing line. A little difficult to do one-handed but look at that. who said they didn't have any gimmicks? I Mean that is the technology gimmicks this thing had in 1995 and I'm so so thrilled to buy this thing. I Haven't been this blown away and happy by a purchase in a very long time.

but we also have a very very long drive ahead of us in this truck. Well, it has been sitting for a while. It does have old tires and it is well going on 30 years old. So I don't think anything bad is going to happen, but that's sort of famous last word for me I know.

So anyway, fingers crossed. this is that verbal. This just takes me back. I mean Not only was I selling these things as a used car dealer when they were used, but my dad had I believe three of them.

He had a black one and a white one and I don't think a teal one though unfortunately so maybe it was just two of them. But love this thing. let's hit the road. Well I thought I'd document the drive a little bit more, but it's been 600 miles in the blink of an eye in.

Total Comfort These things are just such amazing practical daily drivers. Even though the design is about as old as me literally, it's one of those few emerging Classics where you could actually use it daily as a vehicle and not feel like you're giving up anything. Let's say a Jeep Grand Wagoneer They're already very expensive, but they're carbureted and finicky and unreliable. Other examples of vintage trucks from this generation and earlier.
It always seems like you're giving up something when it comes to the Comfort to the ride to the convenience features. but you have literally everything you would want here unless you're an infotainment nut which then you just swap the head unit which I would never ever do because it's all original and so cool. and I don't care about that personally. but now that I'm back in one that is this nice I've been one this nice in a very, very long time.

It makes total sense to me that people are paying 30 40 grand for examples like this at Barrett Jackson I mean it appeals to so many people. If you're wanting something cool, retro nostalgic, you have that if you hate the new stuff and how expensive it is, well, this is a much better option for a small fraction of the price and it's still practical. I Just drove 600 miles, not even a single issue I wasn't worried for a second and I got these amazing seats. On top of that, my back is not sore at all and with a new truck, that certainly wouldn't be the case.

I'd be looking forward to getting out and stretching and fixing my back. and it's not like these are super cushy and too cushy. They do have lumbar support. There's a big air bladder in there so it just it's perfect.

It's absolutely perfect and nothing's happened on this drive. We are very close to home so since nothing happened and I can't find anything wrong, well maybe the wizard will. So let's stop by and see the car wizard squeezered. It's very quiet in here.

Where's wizard in in there? wizard right before you come in? I Hope not. that's not what this band's for. Can you close the door so I can at least get get out? I hope you fixed it. Yeah, it's fixed.

I had it up here because the uh rear seat was stuck down. It makes a lot of farting noises now. I Had to fiddle with this thing for years to get it to go up and down. It would eventually work, but finally it just stopped.

The motors died on. We got two new Motors on it and it's it's. happy now. Oh so how much for the motors? 300 each? Well I guess I still have my in-store credit so that's good.

but uh yeah, everything else okay with the van 2016 Explorer I Love this thing. Had it for almost three years now. Yeah yeah, but everything else look good. Yep.

well speaking of GM products Feast Your Eyes Upon This you know I don't work on Farm trucks Tyler Okay start taking closer steps because because the last ones I worked on years ago I literally got pig manure in my eye. This one is a one owner 95 GMC with 67 000 miles and it is hauled Literally nothing in the bed its entire life. Literally nothing. Okay, we'll start with that because you see the camper on the back when I say literally nothing.
They carpeted it. What? It's basically a station wagon. the panel for this tailgate that can go back on Wow But look at the tailgate. look under the carpet.

one I was like not even a scratch. It's never been used. Okay, that's starting to look a lot better here. I think this right here is the only scratch otter the only one, huh? and I just drove it 500 Miles home 500 Miles Absolutely.

Flawless The only fear of course were the tires a little bit older. Michelin's on there, but uh, still nice and round. I mean when's the last time you've seen Alloys that look like that from this era of GM I Know they're usually all the clear coats all peeled off. Yep, the ultra soft leather is still.

oh wow and it's never been redone. It has a little bit of wear on it, but they never look like that. What's that? Oh uh. I Don't know.

what is that, the screw holding on that little panel there or something? Oh so I guess that's a little bit of General Motors going on there. Huh? Yeah, so that has broken and that's how they. That's how they fixed it. One little flaw.

one tiny flaw. Yeah, well. look under the hood. it's it's.

unbelievable. And then how about the accessories too? See the running board and then this too the Magnum deflector Shield Magnum Yes, it's not even any cheaply. Wild Let's see if you find anything I'll give you the light to help you as well. Yeah, that's right.

These have these little handy dandy light up. Yeah, you don't even need that. You don't even need your flashlight. no you just I can look around.

Ah, this truck is clean. but I don't know about being that clean I didn't know I could open my mouth that way. Well let's take a h I don't need a poxology exam this early the the bullhorn so you you just take the bull by the horns there I got that was really close. Wow! I've been staying over here.

You see anything? this is still shiny I Know the valve covers are shiny, there's no leaks and it's still the old throttle body fuel injection last year of it. I Love the TBI It's so easy to work on. so 96 was Vortec and you prefer the old TBI Huh? Yeah Vortex have a lot of trouble with their spider injection and a spider that's up there. it's why they call it a spider.

It's really a pain to work on. These are a cakewalk to work on. Yeah, a lot more power at the vortex, but yeah, simpler huh. I would go I Would forego the power for the Simplicity of the TBI well is my original light seeing anything? Yeah, it's really nice.

I Guess you did find a really really nice I Totally expected to find pig poop or something in this thing I Doubt it doubt I Really want to see it up on the lift though because I'm wondering underneath if it's as nice as it seems because it's just incredible. This is almost as clean as like a new Bugatti Chiron It is. Somebody took care of it with a similar care for sure. it's just wild all right.
So uh, well, you're you're busy. Yeah, we've got lots going on in here. You got one hole for me and that's it. One hole I Can't share any others right now.

Well, that nap was good for you. You're not wasting any time she goes. Also cool that this exists. still there's not many left.

I think every once in a while you see them at Bear Jackson and it's just wild. Oh yeah, you see the they had it on trickle charger. Very old man stuff. but uh, supposedly it's a very dry West Coast truck that has a leak.

The axle seal leak right there. That's what's blowing here. Uh oh and same story here. Wasn't there a car issues? What was it the? Cyclone Yes, we had to do that on there but it was a little harder with that one because it was an all-wheel drive with a bunch of stuff in the way.

This one same idea. Well, is there a bunch of stuff in the way with these? No. You take this bolt here. This boat take a few of the things, take on both the CV shafts and this just comes down okay.

not hard at all. What about in the middle here that's dripping from here? Oh I See Okay, all right. so axle seals. but above it is the oil pan and it looks the engine is spotless.

It looks beautiful. Wow. It even has the sticker on the side with the UPC code still legible from 95. Wow.

Transmission is nice and dry. Yeah, even has the sticker there. Some of that oil is from the right. the leak up front.

That's the front drive shaft. Yep. Three Rivers Three Rivers Huh. Transfer case is spotless as well.

Sure is. Wow with the factory markings on it. Just insane. It's crazy.

And then the frame. Has it been doctored with spray paint here? Huh? It's been undercoated. Oh so this is a factory Or kind of like accessory undercoating when it was new? Huh? bad? Or that he had it done later on? She I don't know. Is it a he or she a hen and she and I don't know could be anything.

This is a fiberglass shaft? Huh? Once again, insanely nice and dry. Nothing wet back here. just some axle seals. That's it.

Yeah, quite a bit nicer than the last Chevy truck that I bought that you ended up buying it had a little bit of rust. It's moved on to far away. Now you sold it. it's gone.

Oh the rust was getting so bad on the frame. I was just like of course I disclosed it when I sold it. but right, the guy's gonna pull the body of stuff off and put it on another frame and huh? I didn't have I don't want to mess with all that. Yeah, I'm sure.

Well this is a never seen Rust ever. It definitely has. It's very very nice. It has the spare even been on the ground before.
This is crazy. So how much? oh this is sort of the Cadillac of Newton isn't it? and one of the easy up the color everything about it I'm keeping it for sure you're keeping it yeah. I I did pay High Teens for it which the more I look at it the more I think it was worth it. It seemed insane, you know, especially 10 years ago where you know these were a little more plentiful and cheaper.

but nowadays finding something like this has fully anticipated pig poop and who knows, who knows, right? right? But even like new trucks, I was talking about it earlier like a decent new truck is now 50 Grand easily 50. This Is The Answer half less than half when it's just less than half Just As Nice better in some ways, easier to work on, cheaper to work on. Yeah, well, Wizard Seal of Approval and I Love the thing! Thank you so much for watching.

My Grandpa has a 1996 3500 dually with the 6.5 diesel with under 1000 miles. Bought it new, didn’t like the diesel (hard starting in the cold) and bought the same truck with the 454. The 454 has low miles but is beat up from the farm. He gave me an identical truck to Hoovie (97) with about 40k on it. Wish I would’ve kept it. Sold it in 2016 for $6500

I had one of these and it was nothing but problems, it was low mileage too. It was a shame because I got the truck from my father and I like this body style too. I think the generation after this was superior in every way and is the sweet spot for chevy trucks.
