Yeah, I guess now we can really see this is the oil filter. He said the housing was leaking. Yes, oh my goodness, it's like a a river of Goo yes all the way to the front of the engine. Huh? now I missed your valve cover gaskets leaking.
Oh, they're leaking quite a bit. So and lastly, I would like to decarbonate your valves because they're oh, they are pretty gross. Yep, yeah, welcome to Hoopie's Garage! The dumbest Automotive channel in all of YouTube is this is my recently purchased 2008 Audi S5 the V8 naturally aspirated manual transmission. Amazing looking car, but it only cost me 6 900 bucks.
but it was that cheap because it was traded in at the Hyundai dealer. Somebody dumped this thing for a Hyundai and it had a lot. A lot of issues. It needs a clutch, needs suspension work.
It needs brake work. It has oil leaks. a really big one apparently. Uh, but there's actually some good news with this car.
When I bought it, it had a crunchy shifter from the two to three and the three to four shift, but that was actually fixed once the fluid was topped off and an additive put in. But that transmission, well, it's leaking as well. But since it's coming out to get the clutch, uh, not a big deal apparently. So actually the car wizard denied taking this car.
he didn't want to work on another crappy Audi after the R8 and my track record. So actually the car ninja has been willing to dive on this grenade for me, take my money which after initial estimates, was around 4 thousand dollars if there isn't anything else to be found. So uh yeah, it's going to be very expensive. but I think the end result will be fantastic.
So let's head to the Car Ninjas and start tearing this thing apart. Now it was a little daunting at first because there was a lot wrong with this. Audi But I'm not mad because I dodged a major major bullet here with the transmission. When I first got it, it was crunchy from two to three and three to four on the shift, but with a fluid change that's one, two, three, four.
it's quiet I used a BG additive synchromesh 2 and topped off the fluid and the transmission is happy. It's safe, so I'm saving three thousand dollars right there just on a transmission. so the fact that's fine I just have to do a clutch and all the other things it will. It could be much worse.
but usually with a car when you dive in and tear it all apart, you find some more things while you're in there. I Do need to be prepared for that. but first, the ninja does need to tear into it. so let's get over there.
Ninja You ready? Yeah, quite a job it is. I Got the parts Okay, let's take a look. Yep, not a BMW headlight. Oh, here we go.
So these are those beefy arms they are, but that's not the really expensive one. Where's the expensive thing here? The clutch. Yeah, this was like 900 bucks. Something like that.
Eight something. That's the tool. It comes with everything. Cars outside.
I'm sure you'll have it all apart in 20 minutes or so. Yes, Oh yeah, are you having the time of your life? Uh, the transmission isn't out yet though, huh? It's very close. Okay, yeah, it's a pain to. um pretty much all I have to do just take and loosen the bolts the bell housing and it's should come up. Okay, yeah you are very close. Yeah and so. but I do see the engines torn out down here? At least the intake? huh? Yes, uh. there's a few things we did not talk about.
Let me show you, that's not bad. But wait, there's more. It's not too bad. Okay, well there's the intake.
There's the steering rack. Okay, so where you ride on the oil leak? Yes, yeah. I Guess now we can really see this is the oil filter. He said the housing was leaking.
Yes, Oh my goodness, it's like a a river of Goo Yes all the way to the front of the engine. huh? now? I missed your valve cover. gaskets leaking. Oh, they're leaking quite a bit.
So oh yeah. sure. Yep. Yep.
so there's more to do though. a little bit more. And also right here there is a cool leak on this throttle housing bracket right there. Okay, that's very cheap.
Why does coolant run through there to cool off your throttle? I guess or keep you warm? It's a German thing All right. BMW does the same thing. interesting. And lastly, I would like to decarbon your your valves because they're oh, they are pretty gross.
Yep, yeah, all right. Well, that's a very common Audi thing. I know the V10s you needed to do that. so yes, uh, um I figure I'll show you while you're here.
Okay, should be a solid car. When it's done, it will. it will. I mean um, it drives really good.
Um, sounds great. It should drive even better. All right. Well I'm gonna go do a cross-country Drive I Got to save my Maybach from the Arizona desert.
Bring it back here and I I imagine you might be done or close to it when I get back? Yes, definitely. All right. Well, fingers crossed for you and for me here we go. Let me tell you I don't want to see another airplane anytime soon.
Well, commercial airplane but I'm here in Phoenix A lot of cancellation, a lot of problems but reunited once again with a very filthy filthy my buck in a place I've always wanted to visit and he's walking away from me. he's scared Jr Garage Good to see you Finally you've come to the Box I've been trying to get here for so long to look at all. not because I didn't want to I'm a big fan I Watch your videos. We do the same things, but you do things a little differently.
You you like to buy Heinz so low, right? That's the that's the thing with cars. like low sell high you're you're mixing up with yourself. You lose money on cars all the time though, right? No How many times no in our entire career of flipping cars, right, there goes Jet. Yeah, one time one time of every car that we've ever ever sold one car and that was our E93 M3 Had we held onto it for a few more years, we probably would have made money. We sold it kind of before they went up. There might be one car that I've ever made money on. The rest of them might just keep I don't know. All right right? yeah.
I see some of your videos taking 5K hits 10K hits I can't do that I will only buy a car but it's a good deal I'm sorry. even if I love it, it doesn't matter. All right well. I do see one familiar face in here so you you bought the armored Yukon dude I was watching your video and I got to you know the halfway mark when you start showing this I'm like what is this yeah I saw it was coming up for sale I'm like okay, this looks cool so I think I should buy it.
the window wasn't down but look at this I just want to see the window motor in this thing. Someone's yeah right. It's like 3 000 miles and it's completely bulletproof armored. This is a bear Jackson and it sold for a pretty good deal I would say yeah yeah a good enough deal to the point where when we picked up the car there was a note on it saying I forgot to bid.
Give me a call and the guys will want to pay 15 grand more than we paid. See, we don't lose money. 15 grand and we don't have to do anything. We could flip it right away.
You're starting to get braggadocious here. But of course we also bought this bear. Jackson you did. Did you see this? So this is your.
this is not your original because you've done this before. Yeah right. We have a ton of 944s. No, this is a V8 swapped 944 Turbo We had one in the past but it was white right with an LS uh one that we kind of built up the LS6 specs.
this is an LT1 so yeah but still like it's a lot of power under here. that's awesome and then the 355 that's not on fire but looks oh right. tired. you had a black 95 355 I think I thought I like that one time.
oh gosh, I hope mine doesn't have the same fade I Love the Vintage Mercedes right? Isn't that kind of cool? Yeah, we'll see if I make money on that one. I don't know I paid a lot of money. How many cars do you have? because counting is the first step in a meeting? There's a problem. so I don't usually have exactly.
We stopped counting after like 15. and then so I figured it was around 30 or 40 and then one day I had the insurance um, send over an entire list of every car in the policy to get me going in the right direction. There was a few more that weren't on there, but uh, and I calculated it's about 65. of hoopties.
Okay, so I think uh I think we have a problem? Uh, that's a little more than me Fisker but as long as we make money online. Oh okay, we're getting to the good stuff. The ghost. Oh is this Oh no.
Oh no, it's a little dirt. Uh yeah, it's a little crashed. Maybe well look at the back end of it. Let's work a deal.
What do you think about me driving the myvotto? Um, well, it's hit or miss with these are Cl600. We drove a thousand miles after buying inside unseen home and it worked just fine. But other Mercedes you can't drive 20 miles without them breaking. So especially all the hundred thousand miles, it'll be fine. No better reason. It's better than commercial air travel right now, that's for sure. So okay, you're taking a risk, but you know, if, uh, if if all else fails, you have YouTube content? if it breaks that I can't lose? Well actually I lose or you could win both ways apparently. Anyway, I'm very confused by your business model, but anyway I Guess somebody has to make money.
Oh thanks so much to our garage for the tour! I'm just now getting outside of Phoenix here in the beautiful Arizona desert and mountains right as the sun's going down, so it's about a 15 hour drive. a thousand miles. I basically have a lounge back there that I can recline in and sleep when I feel tired and the Maybach behaves when we get home without an issue and check on the car. Ninja Foreign: 10 hours into this trip, my Mark's doing great I am beat though.
it's about four in the morning. so I'm gonna get back here in well basically my rolling hotel room and sleep here in the middle of nowhere Texas in a rest stop. So anyway, when I wake up, I'll be a few hours from home and we'll go check on the S5 see if it's done. Ninja you're doing the thumbs up Again, it's awesome! So you're actually happy with this very very very, uh, a lot more than we thought.
Obviously the carbon cleaning had to happen. That helped a lot. and then the valve cover gaskets. but uh, overall this clutch feel good, feels awesome.
Yeah let's take a look. Whoa. Look who's here, What's going on? Well picking up my S5 I'm just trying to. This smells like burning oil I was trying to burn down Johnny shop.
Oh, you're trying to bust a nut loose? Yeah, it won't come off. Yeah, we've been trying for a little while here and now we got some heat on it. So I guess we'll find out how far out of alignment is it? Oh far enough to mess with in reality. and this one's actually The Supercharged Frontier it is.
You've been getting some video traction out of this thing. Yeah, people like this. Yeah. kind of an interesting truck.
Anyway, back to the Audi Yeah, yes, bye slight distraction, but together all back together. Not leaking, not leaking, no missing screws, no nothing. No lights that need to be turned off and refined. No, no warning lights.
So yeah, just a little bit over budget though. Yeah, because we had the valve cover gaskets, the oil change wasn't included the decarbonization just a little bit. sorry, it's it's uh, it's way worthy though. Well the way it drives is you're gonna like it.
Focus Can I drive it? Yeah, All right. Do I need to pay you first? It doesn't matter Yes. And actually, if you want an in-depth thing on the Walnut carbon cleaning, it's crushed walnuts right? Yeah, you can check out the Carnage's Channel he did post a video on it. it is pretty darn cool. I'll show you a little bit here just right now, but the full video is on his channel. Be sure to subscribe as well. which how much does that get me off the bill? Whatever you want. This is so different than Wizard.
Okay, thank you so much. You're welcome. All right. First drive in the Audi and the first thing I'm noticing is the clutch is way way different.
way better grabbing much lower and harder. Oh, that engine sounds wonderful I Don't know if it'll be able to tell the difference on a carbon cleaning with the Walnut Whatever. Blaster but uh, it does feel like it has a lot more power. at least a little more power now.
of course the oil leaks were something I could not see or smell I Guess it did drip on the ground. but uh, nice to have that peace of mind as well. Really, just totally gone through and refreshed and this thing shows. Wow, that's pretty darn cool.
That is a lot of car for 6 900 bucks or I guess now. Uh, twelve thousand dollars, about five thousand in repairs way way off new. One more little blip here. Awesome! As for what I'm gonna do with this thing, well I probably won't keep it for that long, maybe a few months.
enjoy it and then sell it on. but it is so much car for the money. V8 Six-speed manual. Beautiful styling practical with the back seat and all the Comfort options.
This is so much car for somebody and well I probably won't be making that much when I sell it. I Mean realistically, maybe 15 would be the tippy tippy top since it's had paint work and such. Even though it is as sort as it is, that's just the reality. the values just aren't there.
But I Do think I accomplished what I set out to do here and prove that this car is really underappreciated and often overlooked. A great value. There's some good cars out there, this one was very neglected, but still not massively bad to bring back and I'm very happy that I was able to do it and hopefully you all enjoyed the content. so thank you so much for watching! Nice! Audi.
Would love to see an Audi B7 RS4 avant or an Audi C5 Rs6 avant on your youtube channel, then swap the C5 Rs6 automatic transmission for a manual. You buy ether car and I'll start buying merch ๐.
Hoovie, a cool show would be (and I know itโs not your gig) you doing some of own wrenching, maybe with the Wizardโs guidance.
More Ninja, less Wizard!!!!!!
I want it!!!!
Ninjas look lol
Audi's SUUUUUCK…get a 90s Lexus!!!
How are the audio levels still not being fixed in these videos? The wide shots with a mic are drastically quieter than the handheld shots and it's been like this forever. Does nobody else get bothered having to change the volume on their device every time the clip changes? I rarely watch a full video anymore.
Thinking about getting an Audi nowโฆ.
JRG's business model = daddy's money. Lol.
That S5 is insanely cool. The first car I ever WANTED to buy (key word there) was a B7 S4 with a 6 speed. That V8 sounds amazing. First car I needed up financing was a 2008 350Z back in 2012. I loved that thing, even if it wasnโt what I wanted. With 2 kids 11 years later, I think I need to look at a 6 speed S5 once we can afford it. If you want a tax write off, Iโll take the donation. ๐
Great video, as always, man.
This video screams white privilege
I would love to work for you drive you to your destination s Iโm also a more than 20years mechanic experience doing mobile mechanic around Houston area.๐
In your opening I'm pretty sure you have a flat rear tire.
Didnโt like that guy in the middle. Way too much of acting like a salesman. You arenโt selling me to invest in your business. Youโre just a dude in the middle of a more famous dudeโs YouTube video.
So, I was recently in Pheonix (I live in Alaska) and to my supprize when pulling out of a parkign spot in a grocery store I see a Maybach next to me! Shocked me! I only know of them through your videos. Neat for me! It would be funny if it was actually you at the same store. Who knows.
Thanks for your videos. Keep em coming!
I had a manual 2010 Audi S5 V8. muffler delete, and itโs sounded glorious. also put in a short shifter. drove fantastic! miss that car. actually prefer it over my 2021 RS5, for many reasons.
I want this one
