And then you go, i'm not getting used to it yet welcome to hovie's garage, the dumbest automotive channel in all of youtube, and if you all know my history with tesla. Well, it's been kind of a love-hate thing. I've had two of them so far. The first one i sold well not for a big loss but didn't keep it for very long.
It was a very early tesla model s and my wife was driving it and she had the issues with the range anxiety and then, of course, the next one was a p85 performance model that one had a massive battery failure and then, after that was fixed, we Drove in the car trek - and it left us stranded again - not a very good experience, but obviously tesla has come a long long way to where we are today. A 2022 tesla model s plaid, where the 0-60 is two seconds with an asterisk, but basically the fastest. Accelerating car in the world right here, but none of that really matters to me putting the performance aside, which is insane you look at how far the model s has come in ten years. The quality of this thing, all the things that people complain about with the tesla range anxiety.
All this is gone with this car and it is an incredible piece of technology, but there's a big problem with that. I love this car, but i know it is the death knell when it comes to the future and car enthusiasm, because i mean why would you buy anything else and actually that's why i'm getting a car, not this one but a car that i'm buying from the Owner of this jlw7 photographer, you can look it up on instagram, he owns this and he owns something else that he's selling to me because really well, nothing else beats this. This is the best car. You can really ever own right now and it ruins any normally aspirated any kind of internal combustion engine, because it's that good, i'm told i haven't driven it yet, but i can kind of tell.
But before we drive and tour the plaid i'd like to thank zip recruiter for sponsoring today's video hiring is obviously a huge challenge right now and as the person who, in a life before youtube, was involved with hiring up to 100 people at a time to open A store, i know how hard it can be, and i sure wish i knew about zip recruiter back then zip recruiter uses its powerful matching technology to find and match the right people up with your job, ziprecruiter scans, thousands of resumes to identify candidates with the right Skills and experience and ziprecruiter's easy to use dashboard lets you sort review and rate your candidates all in one convenient place. Ziprecruiter also lets you personally invite qualified candidates in a quick, easy way with one button and pre-written personal messages, so easy. So quick awesome. This gives you a competitive edge against other employers and with ziprecruiter being the number one hiring site in the us now.
This was based on g2 satisfaction ratings as of january 1, 2022. There's really no excuse not to get started. There are so many other useful things with ziprecruiter that will help you get fully staffed. So do yourself a favor check out ziprecruiter, which is linked below so the exterior visual changes are kind of subtle on this, and a lot of people knock it for that. But in person you can really really tell the flared fenders, of course, the nose treatment. It does a really good job with a fairly old platform. At this point, you can see in the back really nice and flared. Obviously they need that to uh put some tire down another thing: here's the symbol for the plaid of course, elon musk, being a fan of spaceballs, makes it the plaid the fastest tesla, which you go, plaid like hyperspace in spaceballs, a parody of star wars, but uh.
The thing that really impressed me where they've come such a long long way is actually on the inside, which is it supposed to unlock, like that? I know so i just unlocked it, but i didn't have a key or so yeah you can use the card key or you can use your cell phone, but it just unlocked to a random stranger and you were far far away so well. I was within like 25 feet. I see okay, well, probably uh the interior. You can see the much debated yoke but uh the people that own them really don't complain all that much right.
I love it f1 style for the road, but look at the quality and how far it's come as far as the natural wood not over finished, the seats, comfort, wise they've, gone way way up the fit and finish, and the quality here is well on par with Mercedes now so this was a hundred and fifty thousand dollar car that would sell for more, but now they've kind of gone up in price overnight. Right yeah, i guess uh lgb, like 160, something now 165 for 160. With taxes, the model x plan will cost you a tick under 180 in california, but then say like a thai. Can turbo s is over 200 and it's not even close to this in range and performance and really slower anything.
It's uglier and you've got it almost fully charged, which is the range is saying 337 miles which most people they're not going to do a day trip longer than that. So you really don't have the anxiety anymore, like you did with the early teslas. But, of course, what you want to do with one of these when you get hold of one is go plaid, which is it a process? Go plaid, i'm ten and two. Oh, where do i go? Where do i go? It's really not that bad is it? Where do we go? No, it's not that bad! All right, pretty simple! Go on your control panel drag strip mode.
Normally it takes a few minutes to warm up cars, preparing going into raven mode. Should i go if you want to go for it? Oh see. That's that's, and that was traction issues dude there, because we had sand that doesn't feel good, remove, remove your organs that doesn't it's exciting, but it it doesn't feel i don't know. I guess that's the start of a roller coaster ride when they launch you like that.
But i just gave you a lobotomy, i guess i'm gon na i'm gon na rip out your endocrine system and shove it back in your that's, probably too much getting a little there. We go all right, rip off the endocrine. You know whenever you fly to buy a car, you hope that you don't get murdered and dismembered and all that touch uh. It didn't seem like it was going to happen until this moment and then you go, i'm not getting used to it. Yet yeah hey the people that are younger than us. This is going to be their expectation. I mean yeah. This is ruined cars.
For me, this car ruined the automotive world. For me, i see no reason to buy a mclaren 720s. I don't care about the road feel the fact that it doesn't make an exhaust note. I don't know, maybe it's cause.
I'm older, my nine-year-old daughter, her dream car is a tesla. She's told me that that's what she wants for her first car, so this this is it ready for launch yeah here we go. You tell me when uh three, two one go. Oh, i hate this.
Okay, that's good yeah, oh jeez, okay, yeah! Definitely uh! You can see how it ruins cars doesn't it. I suppose i mean that's why i hate it. Is that nice for you as a passenger? No it's fun as a driver, i imagine, but as a passenger, oh i get nauseous. I can do it myself because i'm used to it, but when i'm in a passenger you know it's like getting whiplash every single time right.
This is depressing, so it's just game over yeah, i kind of i mean this: is electric cars have won? There's no real reason to continue this exercise that we've loved our entire lives yeah. It definitely puts a damper on now that i mean i love it, because i own one and you know there it's a bit of a halo car, we'll see how long in the long term, if they're gon na hold their value, i don't see even the roadster Being able to be much quicker than this, i mean he's going to put compressed air jets on the car and make it 1.8. What's the point yep, you know we're already at where my neck hurts. I mean it pulls.
What a space shuttle pulls off the line with three four g's, i mean: there's no reason anyone should own a car like this without a special license: soccer moms. Well, i appreciate the opportunity for me to drive this thing and hey it's my pleasure and to basically ruin my day, but then you made my day because you told me something awesome which you'll see in the next video did i sell you the last dying breed? Okay, pull off here, i'm gon na go give this a friend who's kind of hanging on the last that pop culture, you know car hobby, i don't know how much longer it's gon na last and then i'll drive off from the sunset my new hooptie for the Next, video, thank you so much now you got me nauseous man for multiple times. Thanks for lunch, i appreciate that. Well, no trip to vegas would be complete without visiting video bob and his massive eggplants welcome, how's that going man.
I haven't seen this one yet uh beautiful beautiful. Oh my well! Actually i'm not feeling very well bob to be honest with you, not not that i mean not. That kind of i was just in a tesla model s plaid, and he did some launches that made me nauseous, but also the car is so good, like so so good in the quality like s-class quality that people beyond us, the next generation just aren't going to Care about this kind of stuff anymore, they're not going to care about. Maybe a lot of people, don't care about these eggplant tauruses anymore, but i see billionaires driving around in vegas here and they're driving around in tesla's. I sold a time machine to this billionaire. Has his own plane and the car he drives out of all of his collection is a tesla they're going to die, they're all going to die and then they're all going to drive electric cars and then movies in the future. The people aren't going to care about the cars there's not going to be a hero car in a movie anymore. That's why people are stuck in the 80s like me, like they really haven't done anything cool since the 80s.
I think maybe the 90s i've never done a video bob tour and i know there's a car too, for sale here. So i mean is this? Is this uh? Well, you know i. I can't afford this ten dollars a gallon gas out here. I need to you know this.
No, i just got this thing. Sell me some eggplant, the eggplant i've been looking for a 93 like second, first or second generation ford taurus wagon for years. You cannot find these anywhere. I did a video on it.
The shipper put a big dent in the hood when he brought it over here. I've been fighting with him about that, but other than that, this car is in almost mid condition. It has hardly any 50 000 miles on it. It is very men, especially if you stand there and block all that, but anyway, okay, so not very much for sale, but there is some incredible cars.
Let's live in this thing soon! Oh well, let's walk around here so firo as your mechanics right yeah. My mechanic mike he works on he's my car wizard. Sorry, sorry, wizard, i'm cheating on you so he's my car wizard, and this is his custom hero that he just did himself. I have this beautiful xlr, which is also wizard's favorite car salvage title right salvage time.
High mileage hooptie special high miles, got it cheap, how much i'd probably believe it or not? I could probably get 20 grand for this car easy. Even is it in its condition, top works. You know, i don't think you want to sell this one. I know that you've listed this one for sale, though this is for sale this one.
When i worked at a chevy dealership 15 years ago. One of these came up on used for us on our lot and i could not believe this was a factory spec. This was the collector's edition, i believe, yeah. They only made 534 of these in its color.
It matches me like it's like it's camouflage. When i sit in the seats, you almost can't tell that i'm in here it's just like i just blend right in and you want to sell this one. I do you know. I have 25 cars hooves. You know how it is and it's like i i hardly ever get to drive it. It's a beautiful car. How much um i was asking like seven for it i mean yeah other than the tent. I mean this is a factory spec car which is insane cadillac.
Let's try something you would find on on your asian bob's lot, i suppose, but it appealed to the youths which is odd. So i know you have the ambulance you're, not selling that, because i already sold it a guy from alaska, bought it really yeah. He said as soon as the ground falls out he's gon na drive it back. Oh okay, i thought you were building one well, i have another one, but i drove it to dallas to my shop in dallas, okay and the prices for diesel were so expensive.
It was cheaper to fly back first class because it was gon na cost like a thousand dollars worth of gas. So i left it there at my shop and when i fly back, i'm gon na work on it. So i i still have my shop in dallas and then i have my shop here. So i'm i'm, you know kind of bi, yes, so you're, the guy that builds well video cars, your video bob, of course, tv shows and movies.
Legendary cars, which is personal trans, am there's an 88 gta. We don't have the dash in it right now, because it's in dallas been reworked a night rider. It's not right. I drove it here from dallas everything.
It's a it's got like 36 000 original miles, or something like that really low miles, so you plugged in the old dash just temporarily and yeah. Well, the the night runner dash goes on top of this. Oh okay and we we took it off because we're we're doing a whole new set of gauges in it and a bunch of work, new tv screens and stuff. But it's it's still a great car to drive.
I mean it's got working ac and crews, not for sale, not for sale, but this is really what you're famous for you built. 50 of these are close to it. Oh, i think we just 42. very close, and this is your baby here, this one's mine.
Can you even fit in there? Oh yeah, i had that terrible delorean for a minute there. That's right! That's right! I wanted that car turn the uh black handle to the left. That way there we go it's alive yeah. I i sold that delorean for you're going to hit me at 25 grand wow, oh my gosh, do you realize stock deloreans are going for more than double that now yeah.
You know i mean um this car. I couldn't even put a price on this one, because this one's got everything on it yeah this one is comparable to like the one you would find at the peterson, but the ones that we build and sell they're going for like 175 200. Now, it's crazy. So if i were to say, still have my old one and wanted to send it to you to build, that would be how much well i'm not even uh taking commissions anymore.
Oh really, i just buy the cars. I build them and sell them. Okay, because you used to, though i used to, but you know what i got tired of watching people buy my cars and then auction them for twice what they paid for them so now. This is what i do. I just build my own cars. I sell them as turnkeys and um. We have one that's coming up for sale right now, so if somebody wants it fine, so we always have one coming up. So if i have a goldwing car, the sls, even if i wanted to send that to you, you wouldn't do it.
Okay, that i would do so. Why would you do that? No i'm yeah that'd be insane. This particular car had like this turbine here goes to a jet engine that is impossible to get it's like a six thousand dollar aircraft, part yeah that you can't get for it's unobtainium. You know so there's parts on this car that are the real genuine parts and you just it's.
You could not recreate this car really again and so, when they inevitably remake back to the future, which will be awful well, they'd have to call me, you know universal studios in orlando. They called me, and i built the car - that's sitting there now well and bob yellow wrote the movie when they need something for their musical or whatever i build them. The parts it'll probably be a tesla, it'll, probably or i mean it could be, it could be a shoe box for, like i mean that this people aren't going to care about that. That's true! Well, you know that i mean that's one of the things about the 80s movie.
Cars is that that was a time period where they would take a a stock car without endorsement, because you know the door and motor company was a dead brand in 1985, when they did this matter of fact, bob geller or the movie tells the story. How ford came to him and they tried to pay him to use a ford mustang and he refused so they wanted to use this because they knew that it would. It was so cool and so iconic and i don't see anything being made now. That's iconic, like i just can't picture you know somebody going crazy over a nissan altima in the year 2050, but maybe it'll happen.
I i just don't think people will care anymore, it'll be like phones, oh cool. I had a modal razor 15 years ago. I mean that i mean that's what it'll be, but i'm thinking of product placement, so in scarface he got rid of this. He upgraded to a 928 and that really seemed like an ad, but it wasn't in the movie scarface.
I don't know this is a 1963 cadillac series: 62., it's a kalakasa uh. This was the first car we built on. Our tv show screen machines. It was on the real channel back when we did that and um.
You know i just can't bring myself to get rid of it's the perfect elvis car, it's perfect for vegas yeah uh. I have a pink fur coat that i'll wear. Sometimes, if i'm driving this i have in the closet, but it's just a fantastic car. The trunk.
Oh, oh, hello, okay, all right, yeah, oh you've got if you got pulled over you'd have some explaining to do this is just flower, but right you really have some explaining to get some prop money and prop guns, and i can't wait to get pulled over and Drug out of this car and just for the police game video, it's going to be great. I suppose so, then, a mystery machine which i have to have a mystery machine. I've seen a lot of these at barrett-jackson. They come in all kinds of makes, and i mean they seem like it was a volkswagen in the tv show or was it baseball in the cartoon? It really wasn't any kind of a brand, so you can use any. I think that the this is a shorty g10 and i think those make the best versions, because the the the volkswagen is really skinny and the cartoon one. It was actually sort of like trapezoidal diamond shape. If you look at it yeah, so to really do it correct you'd have to kind of like build it out to here and, like you know, make it like i've seen the ones with the fords, but hey like i have a 351 windsor in the middle. Those seem to fit pretty well in those basically the same brand that we use for the 18 grand yeah.
Here i have one in dallas that we're working on, but i drove this car from or this van i drove it from dallas. It performed great. I mean this is the standard vehicle that every plumber and electrician used for 30 years. You know: upper middle class family grew up with the conversion vans and i had one of those recently all the oak and stuff so dang cool this thing's.
Just you know shag carpet right, it's got. You know, oh, my goodness, that is those are some colors blues brothers mobile. I think this is a special one to you as well right. You know.
I just sold my two-door uh 74 dodge monitor this. One is 74 dodge monaco police car made famous in the blues mobile, but also roscoe used to drive one on the dick's hazard and if you watch chips in any of those shows back in the day, these were just the standard cop car uh taxi. They used them for everything, and you know it's supposed to be all messy and cruddy like this. The thing runs great um, i'm a big blues brothers fan uh.
Of course i have the blues brothers over on my porch. I can't see them but right they're. Behind the phantom, which we'll get you in a little bit but yeah, that's really cool and it runs. It drives great uh.
This checker is an icon as well. So this is a 1980 checker. People think that it's like a 50s car, but they made the same car from like 58 to 82 and it really didn't change, and this was a real checkered taxi. I've been looking for one of these for years, there's probably maybe 500 of them left on the planet well, and then that's just to scare people off right that i bought as a prop just to scare off hobos who come walking through here.
They see that police car and they take off so you've got your old rolls there right here, 1967 silver shadow, yeah sort of like it's not too different than the one jr was working on. We put the engine swap in got you uh. If you watch j.r go, i got this from south fork, ranch from the show dallas. Oh really, larry, hagman used to drive this thing around. I barely know what that is, because are you not old enough? I'm 35, so i mean it was. The show was gone when i was a baby, but i know, of course, who shot jr and that kind of stuff. Oh this was that guy was very, very famous, and so this car is all original runs great, that smell right. It smells like it's a smell, so this is the one that got away from me.
I kind of sold it too soon too, cheap, obviously the phantom. I can't believe you got rid of your, but i'm i'm very happy with the azure. I bought the azure for 25 grand jean-claude van damme kind of a stop gap to chop for a drop head phantom. I love the car so much, i don't care anymore, but this is your.
This is my daily. This is your second one. This is my second phantom. This was the salvage one right, yeah cyber salvage title, hoopty, special special drove it from california to vegas or to dallas.
Actually back just had to put front shocks on it. It was like five grand down the tubes. Well, i hate to say it bob, but none of these cars matter anymore. It's the tesla they're.
It's a future hard to drive this thing anymore. That's why it's just sitting in the driveway. You need an electric car, a plaid. I need a yes.
I think i can't afford one of those anymore i'm going to have to get like a leaf or uh. You know one of those a 500 electric look at like the doors closed like a tesla that is true to where you don't have to tip anybody. That's right and and for self-driving mode, i have you, i suppose, yep jeeves take us to freddy's for a burger amazing collection bob. Unfortunately, none of it matters, it's it's so the game's over i'm so depressed.
I i think you're right uh, have you seen the gas prices here in vegas? Well, i'm gon na keep drinking dead dinosaurs for as long as i can, even though it's expensive, i can't get out and you're you're stuck, but i'm gon na go go back to my car, which i just bought and it drinks a lot of dinosaurs you'll, see In the next video, thank you so much for watching you're stuck you're. Just me out of here, you're gon na suffocate seriously bye bob.
The EVs will never replace fun cars. There is no driver interaction and no sound. You can't change gears, you don't hear anything and they have obtrusive tech in them. Power is pretty much irrelevant to how fun a car is anyway
If you wanna buy a PLAID hit me up! I have 2 for sale right now. A black one and a red one. Red one has less than 800 miles. And the price…. around 130k! 2 for sale financing available.
I do not care for Tesla people who own those cars think theyโre green they are just lying to Them selves . Where do they think electricity comes from 70% of most electricity comes from coal that is not green. Lithium eye on batteries where do they think that comes from the ground it is mind that is not green . Now someday Bill has to replace those batteries and how do you dispose on Olympium ion batteries again not green. Liquid hydrogen will be a green car still using an internal combustion engine but a different method of making power instead of gasoline and what comes out of tail pipe is nothing but clear CO2 water
I used to own stock in the company and was a damn-near die-hard fan. That being said, I've driven a handful of Teslas recently as a valet, and my opinion of them now is… Meh. You don't see a lot of owners really doing anything to stylize or personalize them, and I think that says something. I think the keys and stuff are gimmicky as well… And regenerative braking gets annoying REALLY quick. I'm still excited to see what the future holds and what kinds of boundaries continue to get pushed with the technology. Really excited to see what Lucid does with their cars…
You say, "people will not care about anything else". When the muscle cars came out, people still cared about brass era cars and Model T's and A's even though they were slower and "less desireable?". I think people will still love old combustion engine powered cars until you can't afford or even get gas anymore.
I don't see electric vehicles making other cars obsolete, I see electric motors changing what our idea of a enthusiast's car is. Maybe it's a 1955 Chevy Bel Air with all the looks of a stockish Bel Air but powered by all 4 wheels and sporting 1200 horsepower and 400 miles of battery life.
A dead soulless car for a dead soulless age. It's not just Tesla, all new cars are dead to me. Soon the government will be able to shut your car off just like they will shut off your bank account. That is not a world I want to live in. I hope I have died of old age by then. One thing is for sure, when I do die I will own an old car.
I find the Tesla "here's all your acceleration in one lump" thing pretty horrible, tbh. Got to imagine there's going to be some horrendous accidents at some point when somebody puts their foot down and loses control.
I think there is a lot of room for electric cars and if companies start making things like electric hot hatches and stuff that focuses more on handling then speed it could become something really creative and fun… the modding aspect besides aero and color n shit may be gone but the love and feeling of driving wont be.. and i feel like once E V takes over there is gonna be HUGE scene for gas cars esp as stuff ages. track stuff for sure i dont know. ill always have love for the gas tho
The plaid owner gives off a california tech company owner version of doug stanhope vibe
Based on the scenery I'm guessing they are in Albuquerque, Phoenix, or Tucson.
Not to pass water in this guys cereal bowl, but he seems to have been heavily taken in by some myths/marketing regarding acceleration. It doesnt pull "3-4g:s", and it couldnt even if it had a hundred thousand (100 000) horsepower.
Reason being tire grip is wildly insufficient for a bit more than 1g. Purpose built drag cars with their stupidly big/sticky tires and a prepared track is necessary to hit those numbers he talked about.
Nice car, though.
They still can't convince me that this car will have the same range 6 to 8 years down the road.
Every Tesla I've seen has a fraction of the range by then.
